Do You Want More?! is such an underrated piece of music.

It's in my personal top 5 albums (no genre).

If you've never listened to it before, or need to revisit it,

wait until a nice chill Sat/Sun afternoon when you ain't got shyt to do,

open a window, blaze/sip something, and let that shyt rock all the way through.
Cant front I thought they were corny than I copped Illadelph when the Source gave it 4 1/2 mics. It made me go back and listen to Do You Want More. Definitely a good slept on album. Silent Treatment is one of my favorite songs of theirs

The Roots are so prolific that a lot of their best music isn't even on this poll due to date restrictions. Eventually we'll get to albums like Game Theory and How I Got Over and Undun. I actually prefer some of their newer shyt, though never really LOVED an album front to back.

Also, if any of you want to choose who features on tomorrow's classics discussion, either post here or drop a PM.

I'll probably end up changing Illadelph to a 'yes'.

Anyone wanna make the pitch? Why should I vote it classic?
:jbhmm:

Not a huge Roots fan tbh.

Illadelph Halflife is damn near flawless.

Of course it's a classic, breh.

It's slept on now in general hip hop circles,

but the generations of the future, that will have a deep disdain for today's popular music,

will place the album, and the rest of The Roots early to mid catalog, on their proper pedestals.

I gotta say, I may be the one Roots fan that doesn't think Things Fall Apart was a classic. Not that I don't think it's a very good album, just a little short of classic, though the album houses some of my favorite songs from them.

That being said, I think Illadelph Halflife is one of the greatest hip-hop albums of the past 20 years. I also Organix almost flows like a Jazz album and was ahead of it's time Do you want more!!! is getting more acclaim as people start listening to the Roots seriously. But outside of Phrenology I don't this group has a weak album.

I think a lot like Canibus, the Roots are a group that won't be appreciated properly in their time.

As I said, not questioning the quality at all. Probably my fav Roots album. But as you said, not even in hip-hop circles does it get the acknowledgement. So it hasn't received all it needs to be a CLASSIC, rather than a superb project of quality.

I'm on the fence with Things Fall Apart, even though it launched them into superstardom. Their best album by far is Illadelph and I'm constantly listening to that. That is a classic. But I voted yes for both

Organix is ehhhhh. Do You Want More...my copy has disappeared so, I haven't listened to it in over a decade.Silent Treatment still my ish, and Proceed is a Philly classic.
