I think O:D is his best album tbh, but then again I prefer a more traditional hip-hop sound and that's what it was, plus I think he had more zip and energy about him in his voice/delivery

speaking of VV, @SirBiatch, this was my joint
:blessed:

Yeah goes without saying. I think an example of a bad one is RZA's Bobby Digital. Not only were the albums bad, but I think the execution of the concept was not so sharp. Like I get this is the hedonistic, no fukks given, carefree contrast to the focused and spiritual Abbott but still...I could do without that shyt.

DOOM on the other hand is probably the best. The way he keeps his albums thematically consistent with the character is quite remarkable.

There's not much competition I could think of off top to compare to Doom, I mean there is like Quas and Dr. Octagon but the music isn't as good

Maybe Rick Ross :troll:

Yes it is.

You have your working definition, I have mine. We don't need to retread this ground.

I don't remember this convo but ok

I'm just saying I don't like Criminal Minded too much but to say it isn't a classic is borderline blasphemy.

But each to their own I guess.

Looks like everyone's more or less on the same page here. OD and MV are straight classic and each really broke ground for particular types of "underground" rap. That said Vaudeville Villain is one of my favorite albums ever, and has, to my mind, DOOM's best rhyming bar for bar. But it's chronically under-appreciated for whatever reason so I couldn't vote for it

I just think VV doesn't bring much else to the table apart from quality

It's not super relevant, relatively forgotten in DOOMs discog, let alone the whole of hip hop. Not much traceable impact/influence and DOOM as an underground artist will suffer from that acknowledgement but he still has more relevant albums in that regard, and those are the ones that get the yes votes.
