I thought Em made a really creative album, it's a little cringeworthy and all, and probably geared towards weird ass young teens but whatever. It deserves some level of respect and acknowledgement.

Yeah I won't be surprised if he doesn't get any classics, which sounds crazy given his immense talent on the mic, but he's a very polarizing figure. In all honesty, I don't know many people in real life that are/were Em fans like that....it was always more of a "I respect his ability to rhyme, but i'm not into his music like that"

tbh man I have encountered those people who were fans...I think nowadays it's a cool thing to say he sucks or whatever so nobody pulls out their "real hip-hop card". Let's not deny that talent-wise, he's rapping circles around many of your favourite artists, and even me as a non-fan will admit that.

regarding the music subject matter etc., sure you may not like it, but you can't use that to discriminate against giving him a yes vote. I don't fukk with De La Soul's music AT ALL. when the thread comes around, what would ppl think of me if I said, "nah trash music, 0 classics"?

but as you said, he's polarising. It helps him in a commercial sense and for the average fair-weather hip hop fan. But in real hip hop circles, it can be a detriment, and often undeserved.

but I feel it's moreso media generated. Don't get me wrong it's a solid album but it hasn't aged well overall as an album (other than the standout tracks). The best tracks are still great, but the skits and not so good tracks are

How I feel exactly. Outside of the best tracks (Stan, The Way I Am, KIM , and maybe one or two others) I don't ever really feel compelled to listen to anything from it unless I'm just in that kind of mood.
