I originally wasn’t going to watch this because I assumed it was going to be one of those spectacle “White House down” type of flicks. I ended up watching it some months ago and kind of enjoyed it. I wish it was longer to flesh some things out. It definitely could have hit a lot harder with an extra hour, or as a 6-7 episode mini series.

I can understand why people didn’t like it as well. It’s one of many projects that really tried to capture the nihilism and poignant moments, that can come out of nowhere, during combat. It’s something that’s near impossible to get across on film, especially to those who have experienced it.

since when do press and photographers participate in full-on firefights and gun battles, armed with nothing but a camera, casually snapping each other getting shot? who were they even trying to get this footage for, in a failed country that was down to 8 or 9 people protecting the president?

the premise was almost too stupid for words :mjlol:

:why:
DAILY around the world, wherever a conflict is happening.

I think I’ve spoken on here about my platoon having to allow Geraldo Rivera’s bytch ass to finally embed with us. Luckily his phaggotry was a good luck charm and nothing happened while he was there. He had nothing but his mic and skin tight, 85 wrangler jeans on. His type would GLADLY snap his assistant/videographer’s agonal breathing.

By principle civilian journalists don’t carry weapons or fight. Just carrying the means to capture whatever is happening during their embedded period. Even former soldiers I know, who became journalist to embed in Syria, stayed within their own role.
