Welfare tweet is disingenuous because it is implying Starfield-->Previous Bethesda games when it comes to sales which is not true. How many copies of a games you need to sale to hit number 1 can fluctuate greatly between months and years. For example, State of Decay 2 debut at #1 in May 2018. Does that mean State of Decay 2 first month sales were greater than Skyrim first month sales?

Their biggest game of the generation at a number one spot on the NPD still didn’t move hardware, nothing will. Activision is effectively a multiplatform publisher still, its not gonna make anyone buy an xbox either. Most of their revenue will be generated from playstation players still.

Yep and if you look at what months most of those Bethesda games came out it was November which is Call of Duty time, no shyt it didn't hit #1.

Skyrim went against Modern Warfare 3 in Nov 2011.
Fallout 4 went against Black Ops 3 in Nov 2015
Fallout 76 not only went against Black Ops 4 which was a disappointment but also Red Dead Redemption 2.

So acting like Starfield is their best since it hit #1 is just completely disingenuous.

It means they felt they had better hardware than sony and would outsell them, especially trying to undercut them with the series s price. None of that came to fruition

And yes, its obvious their console sales stagnated thats not up for debate. Their growth on pc and mobile is questionable considering they still haven’t updated their subscription numbers since jan 2022 and their steam numbers are terrible.

I’m expecting a small bump from starfield but nothing significant as far as gamepass goes. Piscatella would have highlighted it more if that were the case

Good numbers for Starfield, but I've always felt Starfield was never a system seller. I think for Microsoft they have to earn trust and they'll need more than just Gamepass to move consoles. I think Microsoft needs to gain trust with consumers that they can release a steady stream of AAA games, and then that might sway some Playstation gamers to get xbox, but I think most people usually get one console and if they're getting a 2nd console it will be a Nintendo

I don't think they want to convert PS users

I think they are trying to win over the next generation of gamers over time, younger gamers can get great value out of GP and aren't really discriminating when it comes to quality, quantity is enough for them

Also, I think the early access model will appear for more AAA titles

Pay a bit more to get the game before it hits GP...gets content creating gamers and FOMO gamers $ while still fulfilling the obligation of it being a GP game
