uhhhh thats because theres soooo many different variables in mma compared to boxing. threat of the takedown, knees, elbows, kicks submissions etc..

Of course. Just like there's a lot more to boxing than just throwing punches. Mike particularly was masterful at using distance, which turns takedown attempts into lunges. Oversimplifying any martial art is goofy.
