No, you said:

So you quite clearly said that profanity is the "main reason" why rap music is detrimental to Black people/culture, which means that you think profanity is more deterimental than those cultural values I listed, which is what I challenged with my post. If you don't want to stand by your statement, that's fine, but I didn't put any words in your mouth.

yeah and i also said this

nikka and profanity are directly linked to why rap has gone down because profanity represents a limited vocabulary and in turn represents limited subject matter which in turn causes limited creative space

so i elaborated on why profanity is detrimental

the cultures values or sentiments you listed are the limited subject matters that rap music has relegated itself too, and that is the limited creative space that i was referring to

i dont think its wrong for an artist to make a hedonistic song in and of itself, i think its bad for black people and hip hop culture that an artist is limited to making hedonistic songs because of the box that profanity has put them in

rap music ...WAS beneficial to black people because it started on the idea of more peace and less physical fighting/shooting. then it moved to the real conscious stuff that wasnt just conscious about africa/black history ,etc. but also consciousness(PE,xclan, etc) about whats going on with cism and the people in charge(ice cube). i mean Queen L. did have a song saying Who you callin a B....

i mean KRS did tell us about Edutainment.

a lot of black student unions were started because of that music PE and them were spitting . that even pushed a black college movement, and a college movement amongst young black folks in general, especially young brothas. so hiphip did some good. but as of today. uhhh i aint seeing it. lol.

the only good its doing is getting some hood boys out of the hood and making them rich. thats cool. but at what cost? the cost of them assisting THE MAN in ruining other blacks youths lives by way of messaging over the airwaves, internet, etc.

i agree, that is pretty much what i am saying

you can take it however you want, you asked why he hasnt denounced flava flav, i was just pointing out that he has

and flava flav was just one member of the group, public enemy the group was never going around shucking and jiving

nikka and profanity were not staples of rap until the early nineties, you can go back and listen to pre 90's rap if you dont believe me, and nikka and profanity are directly linked to why rap has gone down because profanity represents a limited vocabulary and in turn represents limited subject matter which in turn causes limited creative space
I know that I can take it how I want. Since Chuck is guilty of exploiting Flav that apology that you linked holds about as much weight as his complaint here, not too much.

Flava Falv only being one member of the group doesn't negate my point that he was a c00n who ran around shucking and jiving.

The quality of rap music has gone done because the artists started catering to people who don't have any true love or appreciation for the culture. A lot(I would even say most) of the best music that hiphop has produced contains profanity and usage of the term "nikka". To say that the use of profanity and the term nikka is directly responsible for the decline in the quality of music is silly. That's real simple.

sure, take it however you want to take it, im just correcting your allegation that chuck d has never said anything about flava flav's antics

that is all connected, when rappers and labels started realizing that profanity was one of the reasons rap was becoming popular the record labels and the artists started using more profanity

i think its more accurate to say that there have been a lot of good rap songs despite their profanity and use of nikka

Jay is an opportunist of course he'll name his single "nikkas in Paris", for the exposure, and to make a buck. Was it even edgy when it was released or make a lot press? I know the Otis song did, right?

Jay is a cornball at the end of the day

Do you think Jay would named his single nikkas in Paris, so white people would be able to laugh, joke, and say nikka. I do.

One thing that's becoming ridiculous in Hip-Hop but very common nowadays is people automatically giving more credibility to an artist who currently has more popularity and money than another artist, which is stupid as phuck.

Hypothetically if there are powerful white corporate executives at the top trying to pimp black people for superficial trendy commercial ignorant art and keep anything progressive down then the type of mentality in here would demonstrate the exact way they're doing it.

Make a few artists extremely successful, have them make "money is everything" music , then in turn you make the masses automatically turn a deaf ear to anyone who's not "balling outta control". This is how powerful white execs would ideally k!ll anything being remotely conscious or progressive. They just say "Let's make a few of these nikkaz rich, so the masses can be vicariously happy through them, forget their problems, and pay for this shyt to numb their minds and if anyone criticizes one of them they'll just say 'why are you hating on a black man getting rich ?' ".

I didn't hear a single song off the album ever get played while I was living in Europe.

Yea I remember Nas naming his album ****** just so he can garner attention on his release through contraversy but when it got too heated like a bytch ass nikka he switched it to "untitled"

:mjpls:

Jay and many other rappers have been sayin nikka for the longest but because now its in the title now we have to in some stupid reasoning blame him for the further destruction of our culture

My nikka u are an idiot

And that is a trait u share with the rest of the Nas stans on this board:umad: :wow: :demonic:

I don't know what Nas's motivation was for naming his album ******, but it wasn't the same as Jay' naming his single nikkas in Paris. Good try but no dice(are you fukking kidding me you dumbass)!

Nas dropped the ball in dealing with the situation, I wasn't surprised.

Let me know when Jay makes anything on the level of

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SnPjF9Y7rA[/ame]

or any pro black song, it'll never happen.

I don't have the time to look up his older interviews, I remember he wanted to cover a lot of angles with the album title.

What do you think, brother? Think Jay and Nas's motivations were the same?

:heh:

miss me with all the name calling nonsense, all you're doing is talking loud.
