" Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well."
"Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it"
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you"
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus"
If there is only one mediator between god and mankind and that is Jesus, who is this other advocate if it isn't simply the spirit of god? The same spirit of god that Jesus had. Jesus was just an example of what the embodiment of that would look like. If you've seen and heard him,you know what the spirit of god is supposed to feel and sound like. You will have the discernment, you will have that energy of righteousness. Jesus may or may not have been a real person, but it really isn't important. There have been truth tellers in our life time, many have been crucified. We gravitated to these people because they embodied the spirit of truth in a world thats a lie. Many peoples problem will be that they believe in the Jesus story so much that they expect a regular man to be perfect like Jesus was. Not realizing you never saw the entirety of Jesus life.
54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked. 55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” 57 And they took offense at him.
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town and in his own home.”
If Jesus was always Jesus, the people wouldn't be asking "Where did this boy get all this wisdom from

?"
