By Way of Deception, Thou Shalt Do War
Well I'm a PSU fan who has watched every pass Hack ever made in college
Hack is good for about 4-5 throws per game, and about 1-2 games per season, that make you think he's the second coming
But the problem is they only come around that often. Don't get it twisted, the kid has physical talent for days. Incredible arm, makes deep throws that make your jaw drop, puts the ball in a great spot for a tall receiver to make a play on the ball. He has the baseline genetics to be the best QB in the NFL some day.
But he's NOT accurate and doesn't feel pressure well. Granted, PSU's offensive line was bad the past two years. But he didn't do himself any favors - a lot of the sacks were on him not getting rid of the ball. And when he did get rid of it, a lot of times he'd rocket a pass 5 feet over the receiver's head, or into the dirt, or behind him, or pretty much anywhere other than where it needed to be. And he'd throw short balls 100mph which might work out really well in the pros, but a lot of times the passes really required more touch and he'd put way too much heat on it.
The kid has potential - he is not a complete lost cause yet. If NFL coaching can fine tune his mechanics and get the fear of PSU's terrible o-line out of his head, he has a fighting chance. Accuracy is something you can't teach, but it may come with a higher comfort level. He was obviously not comfortable behind PSU's o line or in Franklin/Donovan's offense.
I have been incredibly frustrated with Hack the past two years as a PSU fan because he was not elevating the offense, he was allowing its weaknesses to provide excuses for him instead. But, again, there is SOMETHING there. But if he doesn't improve on his accuracy (which was also an issue in HS), then he truly has no chance.
