Chris Webber Or Amare Stoudemire

Was debating this with someone the other day and I was like Chris Webber easily. But then I checked the stats and their numbers and accolades are damn near identical. I still go with Webber for his offensive versatility and passing ability. But Amare was more dominant at his peak.

I'm going with Webb. At peak a much better rebounder and passer and easier to build a team around. On eye test I feel he was the better defender too, though he wasn't great, but I'm not married to that idea. What makes you say Amare is the more dominant player at their peak though?

I might be totally off but i feel like C-Webb's prime and/or peak years last longer than Amare's. So i'll go with Webber.

I just think he was more dominant offensively in his prime. It was almost impossible to contain him because of his explosiveness. That's a great point about the better person to build a team around; I agree that Webber would be a better option as a centerpiece.

Amar'e was better at his peak. At one point he was a legit top 7-10 option in the NBA. Nobody could stop him on pick and roll. He was an athletic freak. Helped he had Nash feeding him the ball...


Webber has body of work and longevity on him. Webber is also one of the GOAT passing big men. Probably better all around game and less reliance on physical gifts.

Sacramento Webber was the better all around player.


They both have the best hands ever...as far as the PF position IMO.


Some of the passes Amare used to catch from Steve Nash, in traffic, was utterly ridiculous.


Same for C Webb.

I don't know, but Amare always reminded me of a more athletic/more explosive James Worthy.


In his movements and the way he cradled the ball in his hands.They had those huge Connie Hawkins like mitts.

I may go with Amare. Before Carmelo came to New York Amare was playing like a franchise all-star. I'm not sure Amare was as much reliant on Steve Nash as assumed.

I'd take Webber, all around more skilled. I will say tho, folks do forgot how much Stoudemire improved his all around game after microfracture. Those Suns teams were fun to watch

I remember this move he put on Duncan his rookie year.Somehow, the Suns made it into the playoffs that year.

Same year/series Marbury hit that "tear drop from heaven"(or some shyt like that) shot against SA.


But yeah.He got the ball, squared up, and blew right pass Duncan with the quickest first step I've ever seen a PF take.The shyt was "blink and you miss it" fast...not only that, but he had the style & grace to reverse dunk on the finish......Fresh outta high school.I said to myself right then "This guy is going to redefine the PF position"

I thought his potential as a player was bananas.Personally, other than LeBron, I think he was the best basketball prospect in the last 15 years.Just his athleticism, skills, & explosivness.The first step...the way he could move like a SG.And he had that "dog" in him.He was just relentless and dirt strong around the basket....but then he also had the finesse.That's just me, tho.....Fukking knees

Webber but only cause of Stat's injuries...

Prime stat was well on his way to becoming a top 10 PF EVER...

The most unstoppable basketball play I have ever seen was a pick and roll with nash and prime Amare...once he started knocking down that 12 - 15 footer shyt was ...they could legit run that pick and roll 50 times and probably get 90 points out of it

I pray to the alter of Dungawd...but that series between him and Amare was the only time I saw Duncan play and said to myself "He just going to have to match Amare bucket for bucket...there is no way he is going to be able to stop him or even slow him down."
