It is the Oscars because Straight Outta Compton isn't some small movie nobody saw and Creed somehow garnered a nomination for Sylvester Stallone and Concussion was a major studio movie; same with Sam Jackson and Hateful Eight.
The Industry has a race issue and The Oscar nominations are chosen by people in THE INDUSTRY...you can't separate the two.
We already know this tho, the better question is why aren't more blk celebs/actors/entertainers speaking out on it?
Also to Chris Rock for consistently keeping it a buck.
Rock is wrong.... bet awards nominate white people

used to be LIVE.We need to get back to when the BET Awards WERE our premiere show. shyt has gotten c00nish, cartoonish, and ru\bbish in recent ears but I remember when it was really a great show and showcase for black talent
Making people actually dress up for the bet awards would be a good startWe need to get back to when the BET Awards WERE our premiere show. shyt has gotten c00nish, cartoonish, and ru\bbish in recent ears but I remember when it was really a great show and showcase for black talent
But here's the thing... Creed and SOC get reviewed better than Trumbo. They had way more recognition than Trumbo. Yet Cranston still gets nominatedTrue, but Staight Outta Compton was just a commercial play. It got more nominations than Love and Mercy, and that was all it was gonna get. It wasn't some Boyz N the Hood revelation that has everybody losing their shyt. Y'all are aware that the youngest director in Oscar history was John Singleton and you're still throwing tantrums over Ryan Coogler sitting it out with Tarantino, Ridley Scott, etc. Again, the problem is with Elba not being the lead of a Scorsese or Spielberg movie. When there ain't barely any options, shyt like this is gonna happen. Sam Jackson definitely deserved a nomination, but The Hateful Eight didn't get enough buzz. JJL only got in because the Supporting Actress field was weak as fukk.
