EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a good one to chew on as we head off to the pre-Oscar parties. Last month, I reported that Steven Spielberg wants Chris Pratt to anchor the rebirth of Indiana Jones that is being developed at Disney. It’s very early days, but my sources tell me that, assuming a script comes in to his satisfaction, Spielberg hopes to direct that film. He directed the first four with Harrison Ford as the swashbuckling archaeologist.

Word from Spielberg’s camp is that it’s too early to determine what will happen because there is no script yet and they are just getting going. It makes a lot of sense though, as Guardians Of The Galaxy star Pratt was Spielberg’s hand-picked choice to be the star of Jurassic World, the first new film in that series in 14 years, which Universal releases June 12.

This is the only thing that would stop me from being behind this is Spielberg wasn't involved. If he's down then let's do it

He isn't but the whole point of the series was Lucas and Spielberg wanted to make the american James Bond, which is why Connery plays his dad as an homage to that. I'm not saying I completely disagree with you but it's going to happen and if/when it does, I think Pratt or Cooper are the right two guys to pull it off. But this isn't even the main issue with the franchise, the issue for me now, is how does it work from a creative standpoint? It's always been a three man operation and now one of those men (Lucas) is more than likely out of the picture. He's the one who broke the story and then they'd get a writer on it and Spielberg would direct. But how does that work now? Would they even do an Indy movie without him behind the camera? Shyt does he even want to do another Indy movie, much less with a new actor and without Lucas?

If Steven still directs as you posted in the story then that will ease over fans than a whole new team. If they do end up with Pratt then do a "'Flashback" movie since Harrison is still alive and have him bookend the beginning and end of the film with Pratt in the middle. I'm still not sure about Rebooting this but I knew like Star Wars Disney would do it. Let's see how he does in "Jurassic World". That's probably the biggest reason Steven might be down.

He picked Pratt for Jurassic World so clearly he's a fan. I'm down either way tho, whether they go for a clean break or bookend it around flashbacks with Harrison. I just want to see more Indiana Jones and as long as Steven's in, I'm down. It's a huge franchise that Disney owns now so it's going to go on, there's no way they're going to let it sit on the shelf

hopefully lucas being out means no more pointless cgi.

Indiana isn't a CGI Franchise bro, it takes place in the past. This isn't "The Mummy" type stuff. But CGI will be used in the future movies for sure. I think I'm more concerned about Story and if Pratt can have that Indy swagger. What Harrison accomplished won't be easily duplicated.
