watching the broken skull sessions with Jericho
I am shocked by how much talk about AEW, Tony Kahn and the rest of the elite on the what is effectively the WWE network

anyone watching this is proably a hardcore wrestling fan and watches AEW anyway
but this is damn near a AEW infomercial so far

I have given AEW crap but they have become a legit competitor to the WWE and in a year plus have connected the dots between their promotion, WWE, NJPW, Impact and the indies at large...tip my hat to all involved

He's going to have some :duck: in there at times, but I feel like he actually makes good points and knows how to tell a story. Like when he was talking about his previous WrestleMania matches. I didn't think it made sense for him and Kevin Owens to not be the main event at 33, then he confirmed that Vince changed plans for the match. Or when he talked about winning the Undisputed Championship. That story made him look like a worthless piece of shyt that the company didn't really care about, so I could believe all of that happened.

Chances are he's lied about certain things, but he hasn't proven himself to be an unreliable narrator yet.

Do you honestly think Jericho vs Owens was going to main event a Mania that had Lesnar vs Goldberg & Reigns vs Taker on it? That match was always going to be atleast the 3rd biggest match on that show no matter what they did in the build up & would have ended up 4th from the top of the card anyway after they shoved a random cool down match in there.

AEW does like 600k-800k in the weekly ratings :skip:

sure, that's competition to WWE's wrestling school TV show and re-runs of 60 Minutes and Family Feud, but that's about it :yeshrug:

still tho, not a knock at AEW, they are successful and should be proud. let's just not get carried away saying they're on the same level as WWE:pachaha:

Apparently, yes, because Jericho confirmed it. Unless he's lying, and he has no reason to, that was the plan until Lesnar and Goldberg decided they wanted their match to be for the title.

Even if they decided it shouldn't be the main event, it should have at least been for the Universal Championship. It wasn't fair to Jericho and Owens to bump them from a potential main event to the second match on the show for a midcard title. The only other match that deserved to main event 33 was Lesnar and Goldberg. Reigns/Undertaker was a joke and it should have been left off the card entirely.

Whole thread just people arguing over whether AEW wants to challenge WWE or peacefully co-exist :mjlol:

I think they should avoid throne smashing spots and continue the "we are all one wrestling community" stance. Getting to do collabs like this with WWE shows are huge for the obviously less-exposed AEW.

Interview was cool. Jericho a scummy human being, but wrestling career wise I've always enjoyed how he has been creatively driven, and he's not afraid to step away or re-invent himself to keep his passion going. It also helped him stay relevant way past his prime physically.
