Wasn't bad like you guys are saying, it was definitely interesting but I couldn't finish it like every other spike Lee movie. It insults my intelligence when black centric movies shove a message down our throats like we are stupid.
I didn't read any reviews, didn't watch any interviews besides Spike defending the movie prior to it dropping or anything...
With so much smoke around this film and the title, I decided to make sure that I didn't get any kind of impression/opinion on this movie before seeing it.
So I just watched it tonight, and... wow, this was some shyt.
I'm from the area, so off jump the name caught my attention, but after seeing this, I don't understand what Spike's goal was for this movie. I got a chuckle out of some scenes, but for the most part, this joint was just not good. And I'm all for abstract and underlying messages and all that in films, but this was just all over the place. The basic elementary rhymes all throughout the dialog and script made the viewing experience almost a joke. I'm glad I didn't see this in theaters. I would have been like WTF
