Highly unlikely. People who talk about China and India's potential to overtake the US often fail to discuss the weaknesses of either country.

India has poor infrastructure, women are underrepresented in their labor force (which limits the potential of the economy), and they are arguably overly reliant on the service sector (as opposed to manufacturing which is what rocketed China in to a global power).

Another potential weaknesses is that Modi and the BJP's increasing authoritarianism curbs growth in the private sector (see what Xi and the CCP have done to industry in China).

India has many hurdles to jump before it is anywhere near top dog status.
