Look at this bullshyt here... It's the PASS prices and not the actual fair prices that are going up though

CTA base fares will not increase in 2013, but pass prices will go up--and fares from O'Hare International Airport will more than double in cost--under a $1.39 billion budget announced today.

The 30-day pass will increase to $100, from $86 currently.

Seven-day passes will rise to $28 from $23: 3-day passes will increase to $20 from $14: and 1-day passes will almost double, to $10 from $5.75.

The CTA will also boost fares to $5 on Blue Line trains departing O'Hare International Airport. The $2.75 surcharge will be applied to single-ride tickets, CTA president Forrest Claypool said. Customers who use monthly passes, Chicago Cards set up as monthly passes, 1-day, 3-day and 7-day passes will be exempt, as will reduced-fare riders.
The spending plan was unveiled a day after the transit agency and the union representing more than 7,000 bus and rail employees signed a tentative agreement for a new four-year labor contract. The old contract expired in 2011.

The labor deal gives the CTA some of the work rule changes it sought to reduce expenses, from overtime pay policies to preventive health care measures.

In exchange for that flexibility, members of the Amalgamated Transit Union will receive annual salary increases and be required to work fewer swing shifts that prolong the work day, among other benefits, officials said.

Metra riders could face another fare increase - Chicago Tribune

Many Metra riders could be facing another fare increase this February, just one year after digging deep for the biggest fare hike in the commuter rail line's history.

Metra's board is expected to vote Friday on a recommendation to raise the price of the popular 10-ride tickets about 11 percent, the Tribune has learned.

That would mean an increase ranging from $2.75 to $9.25 per 10-ride ticket, depending on the distance.

If approved, the increase would deprive 10-ride ticket buyers of the discount traditionally associated with the ticket. Currently, 10-ride tickets cost the equivalent of nine rides.

Word of the possible increase did not set well with riders Thursday evening.

Student Satya Shah, 24, of Rogers Park, said that if the price goes up, he'll have to consider taking the CTA from Rogers Park to downtown, even though Metra is closer to his home.

"It's going to hurt the wallet," he said of an increase. "If it works out to be cheaper, I'll take the CTA."

Customers now pay anywhere from $24.75 per 10-ride ticket for close-in Metra zones to $83.25 for the farthest communities.

They're rebuilding 1,029 buses and buying 475 more. It's a small price to pay.
