i've been hearing, and seeing this same back and forth in online discussions since the 90's, going back to AOL chat rooms and forums on dial up.

the shyt ain't gonna change unless they basically declare marial law in those communities.

Ain’t no white people going into these neighborhoods. Yes, white supremacy is the reason behind all of this, but this is some dumb nikka shyt. Chicago was always violent, but when you look at this recent activity, there are so many factors. I tend to think when they locked up all of the OGs, that took away from a lot of the stability and order that the gangs had. Then you have a situation where you had people living in the projects for years, and once they tore them down, they were displaced throughout various black neighborhoods in the city. This just added to the chaos even more by creating more beefs. Obviously there are way more factors, but this random violence can be attributed to those things.

Also with social media and dudes actually beefing over that, I wouldn’t put it past some of these cops initiating beefs over social media by pretending to be rivals.

Yup. There’s no rules to street shyt anymore here. It’s random petty dumb shyt all committed by 15-25 year olds. The “gangs” now are just basically neighborhood clicks, and they be recklessly beefing w nikkas from two blocks over and shyt.

It’s all the randoms and innocents catching strays that hurts the most. Folks pumping gas, walking to work, driving past when shyt kicks off

The black male homicide victim rate is 7.56 times the black female homicide rate in Chicago.

If it were just about blackness, then black females would be homicide victims in Chicago at a
slightly higher rate, because they statistically outnumber black males in the city on a population basis.

And for the #MeToo types, the black male homicide victim rate is an astounding 189 times the white female homicide victim rate in the city.

Chicago in general has been a relatively violent city sonce its inception. Gangs and organized crime has been part of this city's fabric. Many of these gangs that are out there terrorizing the streets have been active since the 60s 50s and even the 1940s in some instances.

Exactly. My pops told me how my grandfather saw a drive by in the 30’s up there, some cac Mob shyt, he was coming out of a bar and just randomly saw it down the block. Some white dudes in a car dumping on some white dudes standing on the street. Like some shyt out of black and white old school movie. Got a cousin who stay down in South Shore now, on the same street where Al Capone mentor got shot 8 times damn near 100 years ago. Now on those same corners young brehs is doing the exact same thing. But they demonize our shyt but yet romanticize and make Hollywood movies when they do it. From the stories I’ve heard from my family about growing up there, it sounds like it was a lot worse back in the day. One of my uncles favorite redundant ass stories to tell at family gatherings was how during a week back in the 70’s, Chicago had more killings than Vietnam. And he been saying that tired ass story for decades, so clearly this shyt ain’t new. Only difference is some nikkas can’t think for themselves anymore, and they buy into whatever sensationalized story Mr. Whitey is pushing at the moment.

Yes, Chicago was always violent...even more violent than it is now if we go by number of homicides, but it wasn’t this random shyt like it is today. They had a code back then. I remember when Yummy Sandifer killed that innocent 14 year old girl, and before the police got to him, members of his own gang took him out. shyt like that goes unchecked now.

Also, because everything isn’t really under an umbrella anymore and they’re just a bunch of random cliques, there literally is no organization. These dusty nikkas aren’t even out here getting money like that. Basically shooting over dumb shyt.

Martial law ain’t the answer because in the end it could go horribly wrong. The answer is a lot of things but one main thing is for accountability and takes collective effort from the whole community. The youth have to be taught skills so they can find work. Also tougher parenting needs to be done. There is no reason for a child aged 11 be out the streets at 3am. These parents in these neighborhoods are working multiple job or are terrible parents so they don’t have time to truly raise their child.
Also we have to address that two generations of baby mamaism and daddyism is leading to dysfunction and the decline of the black community. Nowhere in the history of mankind had there ever been a successful race of people that have high rates of children being born out of wedlock, born into single parent homes, born into parents not ready to raise a child.

Also the old heads gotta step up. In Queens there was this old head that used to be a drug dealer in Queensbridge houses during the 90s He served time and got out around 2010. He saw that shyt hadn’t change in the projects so he and other reformed gangstas got together and basically made a neighborhood watch and gave game to the youth crime doesn’t pay. And the initiative worked. Years later around 2 years ago Queensbridge the notorious projects went a year without a murder or shooting. Not because of heavy policing because the men of the community got together and became leaders to protect and teach the youth like men should do. It was such a success that other infamous projects like Albany Houses,Pink Houses,Oceanview houses,Marlboro houses are copying the same initiative. The men in those communities became leaders and are being neighborhood watches,stopping beefs, teaching young black men that reaching for a gun doesn’t do nothing but bring prison time and death. This can be done in Chicago.
