This is happening because a whole generation of black people refused to guide there sons. Not because they couldn't do it, but because they didn't want too.
Blame music, blame culture, it doesn't matter when you have a head on your shoulders you filter the bullshyt and alot of these problems just vanish.

It reminds me of when you grow up in the USA hearing about x-number of deaths in places like Palestine and Iraq. You don't really think about it because it usually doesn't affect you, and it's always the same kind of story so it just becomes boring/you get desensitized.
I've never been to Chicago and don't know anyone out there, so when I hear these news stories it kind of just rolls off my back and is quickly forgotten.
I hope that everyone in Chicago can have a chance to leave and seek out a better living situation if they choose to do so.

Well, good thing Chicago only represents 82 of the 100+ wounded and only 14 of the 22 fatalities in this nationwide (as we have been so elegantly reminded) crime spree. I almost thought there might be a real problem here.

This (the bolded) is not true for the majority. People can't escape their culture. You will have some rare exceptions, but the rest won't.
But you're right about the father part, but it precisely became a part of the culture. The number of little nephews and cousins I have growing up now without a father is crazy. Im' talkng about a father who's alive and well.
