Indeed, that's the main motivation people have to say "GOODBYE to NJTRANSIT"

you have to read the article and hear Sharpe James' explanation for why that mini police booth on Broad & Market was unmanned at the time. unmanned , and no camera recording.

Family of the victim asks "what if this happened to Mayor James' child?"

Older people from Newark remember that James' son WAS shot and almost killed when somebody tried to rob him for his shearling or sheepskin coat back in the day....WHILE James was either mayor or councilman

MFers in Newark have been on some other shyt since forever.
Now downtown is pretty much a greenzone due to the outside business and white collar workers. That shooting that happened though was random but word on the street they been hunting dude for a min and that was the only time he was lackin. They caught the muthafukka though. its over 30 cameras in that area now.

this gone sound real :mjpls:

But they should’ve kept the projects up. Maybe just renovate em like they did in NYC and other major cities.

All these project refugees flooded strong working class black neighborhoods(South Shore, Roseland, Pullman, South Chicago, Englewood). Destroyed them overnight.

We got section 8 in the once quiet, beautiful south suburbs tearing up the school districts and making neighborhoods look like shyt:pacspit:

Those projects came down b/c there was too much value in the land. Keeping them up was never an option.

Uncertain grounds
Id feel iffy at this point living in almost any city..in large gatherings etc

Its too easy to get caught up in bullshyt and get seriously injured or die even when you have nothing to do with the situation

Only project land that was valuable is Cabrini and Henry Horner along lake street since downtown moving west

Most of State street corridor, ABLA, ida b Wells, still vacant 15+ years later

Yes but to developers and the City, just Cabrini Green by itself was worth it. It was all or nothing - otherwise it would've been too blatant.

Breh, they been trying to get them nikkas at Marshall Field Gardens in Old Town out for the longest. That land may be more valuable than Cabrini Green.

Cabrini was a bit secluded and so the density wasn’t high in that area. The Gardens is integrated into a 100% densely populated white collar neighborhood so the demand for their land is out the roof.

I'm sure that destroying the projects and displacing residents had an impact on crime stats. I'm guessing the violent crimes were concentrated around the radius of the project buildings before....and more spread out now.

Did the spike in crime in the city start around the time the projects came down?

Times like this I wonder if it’s some rogue cacs that be doing some of these killings. They know the hood don’t snitch so they can just murder with impunity.

the hood is definitely snitching when you start murdering important figures in the community, especially women and children. The hood just minds it business in most cases, you don't always know why people got killed,so aren't trying to help send innocent black people who rightfully killed to jail. What if somebody gets shot tommorow? What if the person shot was the person who killed these women? If you snitch,You have now just turned over a black person who righteously killed someone to the white man.Assuming these women didn't have it coming, which is a safe assumption. Mind you I'm not saying you should be killing people in most cases,it should be up to the community as a whole in a perfect world.

And this is why when black women like to bring up how they are always on the front lines for black men,I tell them to get off the front lines.
Even if there were not enough black men to take your place out there and have as strong a showing, street corners are no pllace for a black woman.
"Front lines" are no damn place for a woman! You worry about the home.
20 strong righteous black men on the front lines is >>>>than 100 black women on the front lines. Please just get out of harms way, black men will have to realize our power ourselves:respect:

Tariq Nasheed said white people be doing drivebys in chicago and hoping in vans disappearing into the night
There's no way to confirm or deny this, and it means nothing without evidence.
Reminds me of the "government dropped crates of weapons into the hood" stories that for some odd reason have zero photographs/videos in existence. It sounds plausibe, because state and federal governments aren't above tactics like that, but there is no way to prove it.

Tariq feeds his audience a daily dose of paranoia ,conspiracy theories, and rumors. The best rumors to spread are the ones that can't be confirmed or refuted. Those are the ones that have the longest life.
He knows his audience and their need to point finger at others in every situation.

This.

And the more accustomed to it you become, the more outlandish claims that confirm your previous biases seem to have a basis.

This is how Facebook right-wing propaganda works, unless you're really knowledgable, a daily article about vaccines that have been contaminated, how alkaline water and fruits cure disease, and how the government pushes unhealthy food, can easily be tied to a candidate.

I be telling people that the hood aint worth saving man. I been a over 20 protest against violence in the city and like 5 hours after the protest someone is killed.

People don't care, your best bet is to strap up, move or just avoid the drama in whole.
Its just concentrated poverty and unemployment. Everything else is a result of that concentrated poverty and unemployment, plus mass-incarceration cutting up.
No... Thats a terrible idea... The Gini Coefficient in Economics already explained what happens when people in poverty live next to even someone of middle class stature... Property crime goes UP for a group of people that would otherwise avoid.

That the reason theft and property crime is at an ALL TIME HIGH in San Francisco... If you dont have the means to survive, the next best thing will be to rob your neighbor who is doing better than you...
That's not quite how the gini coefficient works... Its just a representation of the allocation of capital or income in an area. When people in poverty live next to someone of a higher income, and the impoverished are given the resources, then property crime doesn't go up. It does go up when the only way to alleviate the tighter aspects of poverty is through property crime like theft and burglary.
Nah. The violence would spread there too. When they tore down Cabrini and relocated the families, the beefs spread to those neighborhoods to. At least with the projects it was concentrated.
They were still in concentrated poverty, there was still high unemployment, and there were still no resources.

Its a two-step process: (1) break up the concentration of poverty; (2) work to alleviate the symptoms.
Education, career/vocation training and opportunities, and therapy, plus the add-on of community support solve the issue. It has to be implemented though.
