I am black (whites and Indians sitting up in my family tree, but my parents and grands were all seen as ******s and had to piss exclusively outside on road trips back innaday). My lil brother was a hood star. When I left home at 18 almost all my peops were packing guns. It was NC not NYC in the 90s so it wasn't the worst US hood, but nikkas got and continue to get their shyt twisted back tooo toooo often.
I say that to say I am qualified.
What we are seeing is evidence that nikkas are as stupid as they make us out to be. If a group of foxes fought each other to the death til their group was too weak to compete while a group of nearby bobcats worked together until they dominated the whole landscape: one could say the cats were smarter. And what's the measure of intelligence anyway? A genius who can't feed himself is really a fool. A so-called moron who finds a positive way to feed his whole fam is actually very wise.
No matter how we got here, if we can't work together to provide food and warmth for our own families and by extension our communities then we are collectively stupid. They tried to destroy us and it looks like it WORKED.
Yes. Blacks leave the hood all the time but they don't migrate to some well off black utopia, they settle among "larger society". As one who has done this: it's all about peace and quiet. I could stick my neck out and duck strays in my hometown and spend all day rapping to the youth about being positive BUT WHY? ?! Same lil nikkas I would be risking my life for are the ones who might catch me in a dark alley. fukk that. I'd be down if they were as interested in my well-being as I was theirs, but they just aren't. Not just indifferent, hostile. fukk you lil nikka. Go for self.
