"There are other scientists like me. Any one of them could have done what I did. But you... Everything we asked for, everything we needed. Men, material, lunar rovers. Who else could have done these things? They heard me, but they listened to you. Of all the ministers and all the deputies -- entire congregation of obedient fools -- they mistakenly sent the one good man. For God's sake, Boris... You were the one who mattered most"

Boris might have the GOAT 5 episode character arc :wow: man went from threatening to throw Legasov out of that plane to telling the judge "Let Him Finish" :banderas:

:wow:
Re-watching episode one after watching Legasov break down of events in episode 5. Dyaltov sent them all to their doom. His fate is most fitting.
it also makes me realize better why they are all so shocked and in disbelief that the reactor could have exploded. They pressed the damn emergency shut-down/turn-off button. The last thing you'd expect is for it to speed up the problem...not to mention no one even thought a reactor even could explode at all.

I loved the way they used the flash backs. It made the first episode even better in hindsight.

What pissed me off is those dudes in ep 1 and 2 when they kept saying you didn't see graphite. They slowed progress.

You get the feeling that the two gradually became friends as they worked together.

There is a picture of Boris and Legasov at Vienna laughing and smiling and embracing each other. I think they used it in the ending montage. I tried to google search it couldn't find it, but on the podcast, the shows creator said that pic inspired him to write that scene where Boris stood up for Legasov to tell the truth. He said because the emotions displayed in that picture, you couldn't fake. He believes they really grew to be comrades dealing with this. I wonder if they ever got the chance to have one more conversation before they both died...
