I disagree but fair enough I am tired of talking about the issue. I will say I felt he was disrespectful to envy and all people that may want certain things and sacrifice for there kids working a 9-5 instead of taking huge risk trying to start businesses thank you that is all.

That's his perspective. He's entitled to it and has the right to espouse just as much as you have the right to yours.

Again, I don't understand why grown men are so upset over another man's opinion. Especially one they claim to not respect and whom they claim is doing so bad.

Peace

I really want to be done with this so I will say this one last thing we are on a discussion forum people keep saying I don't know why grown men are upset im not upset but its not about being upset. We are here to give our opinions on things I just felt what he said insulted my intelligence. This issue is alot more complicated then he made it sound he constantly contradicted himself in the interview and I am just not that impressed with him overall as I feel all his accomplishments were on the back of Jayz.

good luck b,im also working on something so i definitely respect that :salute:

I think people are " mad" about the way he spoke on working class people, ders many things that black folks take pride in and one is working a honest living,providing.....just because someone isn't rich doesn't mean their not comfortable financially ...

i knew a jew who is at the top of a company when it comes to sales( he never takes breaks, first one at the front of the store's door)

if someone is willing to put in effort to work hard and they enjoy it,then so be it,hats off to them

dame doesn't take into account the mental strain of running your own company, look how many businessmen kill themselves and their family over major outstanding debt

and nothing is wrong with a little help, in fact living is so expensive these days if you get help it really shouldn't mean a thing

when it comes to rappers, i dont think people expect much from them lol,the things they said this year alone (political issues)is shocking,I didn't expect dame to shyt on people the way he did and then have the nerve to promote his movie like it was nothing.

Ok, I see what you're saying. But he was just giving his perspective. His perspective is ownership > job.

Building something you own > working a ob to build something someone else owns

Passing tangible structure to your kids > passing down the hope of a good job

That's the perspective of many others.

In fact, even the "way he said things" is not even that much different than others in his position. For example, Robert Kiyosaki has made videos and posts on social media saying "Savers are losers" and calling employees all types of dumb. No different than Dame saying "Saving is for suckas." But people go crazy because Dame said it? Or said other things that white and asian entrepreneurs say everyday?

If people believe in the "plight of the working man" and feel that its honorable, then fine. Be the best worker one can be. But be honest.

I believe people are upset because Dame, and people like Dame, speak so brazenly about certain imperical truths that directly contradict their reality, which makes them feel insecure. Because if you notice, no one is speaking to what he actually said. They're making ad hominem attacks, so they can discredit his message by discrediting him.

It's imperical that an employee doesn't own what he does everyday. That what he works on will not be there for his kids. That owning stock in a company is much different than creating and owning the company. That he is told what to do, when to do it and how to do it. That he does not control his day or his output. These are truths that cannot be denied or discredited.

So, I just don't get why people, especially grown men, are so mad at someone giving an opinion.

Peace

How are we nitpicking about an opinion when the guy told Envy that he's a sucker and not a superman to his kid cuz he happens to have a "boss". Envy can get booked to any show or to do someone's mixtape cuz he's a legendary DJ. Charlemagne the God and Angela Yee can get booked for multiple events cuz love them or hate them their personalities. I'm sure there getting enough money to buy their own real estate or start there own side businesses. There's a way to communicate black economic empowerment without dissing people. People are supporting this dude like he said the realest shyt in black history. If I wanna hear an interview on real genuine black empowerment I'd hear J.Cole's interview with Angie Martinez. This whole "oh he spoke about black economic empowerment so we should avoid all the dikk shyt he said". Do I need Dame Dash to tell me about the importance of owning assets? No, I don't. What you look for in interviews when someone speaks on a subject that we're all pretty much in agreement with, are the key points and values that they use to communicate that stance. Dash came off as a bougie, consdescending, unrealistic businessman in this interview. But na, he said blacks should own their own business so all of a sudden dude is Malcolm X.

So, you're upset because he spoke harshly? Not that the message was wrong but that he made you feel bad when listening to the message?

The reality is, being booked to do a show or a mixtape is fine. But it's still being paid as an employee. Same for Char and Yee doing appearances. They are simply being paid as employees. They don't own what they're doing.

See, you're talking from a cash standpoint. Dame was talking about an asset standpoint. Most people think like you. They just want to get cash in hand and that makes them feel like they're winning. Fine. But others think in terms of owning the asset that produces the money.

The point he was making was that Envy cannot be Superman if he has a boss telling what to do. When the boss, who pays Envy and tells Envy when to be at work every morning, walks into the room, Envy is no longer Super. Envy is Robin to his boss who is Batman. Envy has someone to answer to, which Superman does not.

But again, if people are so comfortable working for others and truly believe it to be good, then why be so upset over this man's opinion?

Peace

no one wants to hear a "how to be a man"/" working a 9-5 lazy" lecture when the person who is providing such information is in dire need themselves... yet act like they are the top cookie in the jar

yes,a bit of what he said was true( ownership, most ppl should of known this already, hell go listen to the 50th law )

but im sure i can find some truth in what bill o Riley speaks also

its all about how you deliver such message, admit truth,be honest with yourself and the people you're pushing your message to

Dude your defining me without knowing shyt about me in the same way Dame is getting at these dudes about being "comfortable" with getting a "comfortable" means of income. The message isn't just black empowerment the message is your wasting your time and your lazy if you start off working a 9 to 5. His opinions are his opinions, I'm not saying that the dude should be put in prison. Its a fukking forum I'm gonna express my opinion to and his opinion on this topic is mad flawed and impractical. You really think if Envy started his own podcast he wouldn't have anyone to answer to? If he says something controversial about Jews, homosexuals you don't think he'd have people to answer to. You always have people to answer regardless if someone calls you a boss. No one is ever "free" to do whatever they want whether your the worker or the boss. The example he tried to make out of Envy is stupid and doesn't apply to the average worker because Envy, Charlemagne, and Angela Yee are personalities can get paid regardless if they get fired because they've built themselves up as brands. To not do a radio show when people are offering you millions of dollars or even hundreds of thousands of dollars because your to prideful to say you have a boss is the most ignorant shyt I ever heard. Why can't ya just see the dude got his ego checked with some of the questions they asked him about net revenue and acted aggressively on the radio team to try and save face. shyt is plain as day.

I don't agree he got checked at all. If anything, this topic is so viral because of how Dame controlled the interview. And how he clowned Charlemagne over and over. Also, how he basically embarassed Envy....whether that was right or wrong.

Envy, Char and Yee are brands per se. But they use that to get jobs, which is not owersnhip or control. Since that is what Dame was railing against the whole time, millions to work for someone else wouldn't entice. That's was his point.

Dudes aren't discussing this topic. Dudes are emotional about this topic. Topics get discussed everyday, but this has been a topic for several weeks now. And it's not a topic on an idea or situation.....it's about a dude....who gave an opinion....which made dudes feel insecure....and less manly.

Again, it's just funny to see how dude has touched so many souls with his words :mjlol:

Wow, I didn't see that coming. More ad hominem. It's not about Dame per se, moreso about people trying to deny imperical truth, so they can feel better about themselves and/or their lives.

But its still funny though :umad:

I saw this post on Facebook this morning about Robert Kiyosaki and it reminded me of this post. People can say what they want but Dame is telling the truth.

Serious question - who out there in the "culture" can really challenge Dame? Is Ebro the only one?? Is the reason Dame has not gone up there because Ebro hasn't invited?

I don't even love Ebro, but i feel he conducts solid interviews...and has tons of knowledge since he's been heavily involved on the insides since the glory days of both Rocafella & Hot 97.
