Who still watches television shows when they actually come on :dahell:

I have watched every episode of Walking Dead, Mad Men, GOT, Penny Dreadful, House of Lies, Girls...

I have also never seen one of them at the time they actually came on television

I don't think I know anyone who watches a show when it comes on:dahell:
My grandparents :ld:

As someone who gave up on Person of Interest, and with seeing the rising success of basic/premium cable shows, I think part of the problem is the standard network season length.

This season, I just couldn't get motivated to watch 22 or so episodes of Person of Interest knowing that at least a third of them would be dedicated to filler case of the week episodes that had little to nothing to do with advancing the main plotline (although, to be fair, I heard the season ended pretty well).

On the other side, some of the most popular shows either have short seasons packed with big events/episodes that essentially force you to watch it all as soon as you can, or take some form of a hiatus near the middle of the season to essentially break itself into two mini seasons.

I think some lessons were learned, because ABC switched to that kind of format for the next season of Agents of Shield with the quickness.

i dont think the amount of episodes is the problem

its that they take so many breaks

if they showed a new episode every week like most cable shows do i dont think they would lose as many viewers

like with Person of Interest, every since December they were showing 1 or 2 new episodes per month until May :snoop:

it shouldnt take 9 months to show 22 episodes.People lose interest when you show 1 new episode then 2 straight repeats. Then another new episode followed by 3 straight repeats

thats why i usually wait til the season is over or right before the finale to binge watch it

another thing thats killing these shows are this stupid ass mid season 3 month break damn near every show thats 20+ episodes takes now.I cant possibly see how these networks think its a good idea to take a long ass break in the middle of the season...they even do it with shows that are still in the 1st fukking season :mindblown:

Those breaks are taken to space the episodes out. Networks expect a show to debut it Sept/oct, and last until damn near June in some cases. The concept of what a season is, and when it should start or end still feels like the problem to me.
