For some reason I had this case on my mind today so I started looking up some updates.

Apparently the police officer HAS BEEN indicted on a voluntary manslaughter charge, initially it was said that a grand jury did not indict him but a second grand jury did. No trial date set as of yet.

The trial for the man who shot that girl McBride on his front porch in Detroit is set to begin in July. They've already removed the black female judge from the stand

So while ya'll are out this summer enjoying vacation, watching the world cup, living it up, dont forget about what happened to your people. Don't forget about what your duty is if justice isnt done

The charge should be second hand degree murder - killing without premediation or justification. The man was unharmed and the cop shot him TEN TIMES for no apparent reason. That's manslaughter at worst and second degree murder at best. Shooting a person once debilitates them, the only reason a cop shoots at a person more than once is to kill said person. That cac cops need to die.

HARLOTTE, N.C. – Officer Randall "Wes" Kerrick is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of unarmed black man Jonathan Ferrell. Wednesday will mark day eight of jury selection in the trial, when attorneys could choose the four alternates.

Attorneys will chose four alternate jurors Wednesday in CMPD officer Randall “Wes” Kerrick’s voluntary manslaughter trial.

On Tuesday, the 12 people who will decide if Kerrick was justified for shooting and killing Jonathan Ferrell were officially seated.

On Tuesday night, Ferrell's family expressed concern about receiving a fair trial -- before opening statements have even begun. They believe there aren't enough African Americans on the jury.

The jury consists of seven whites, three African Americans and two Hispanics.

Census figures show that Mecklenburg County's population is 49 percent white and 32 percent black. The jury will be 58 percent white and 25 percent black.

There is one African American male juror, which civil rights activists expressed relief over.

“We definitely need someone who looks like Jonathan Ferrell (on the jury),” said activist John Barnette.

But Ferrell’s family says it's not enough.

“We are not going to get a fair trial in North Carolina. It's already been shown to us. We are not getting a fair trial. We need to not just vote but be willing to serve as a juror,” said Georgia Ferrell, Jonathan’s mother.

Legal experts said there were jurors who were not picked because of admitted biases.
