dude won the Heisman trophy, Walter Camp, the Maxwell award, Johnny Unitas award, Davey O Brien, concensus All-American, and multiple other awards. All those are QB awards.

Plus named back-to-back ACC Athlete of the Year in the Duke/UNC basketball powerhouse era.

The NFL hated on him as a QB :mjpls:, so all he did was go on to be a late 1st rd NBA pick and have an 11-year career.

He wasn't a "runner" as they like to say, he had some mobility but he could throw it. 27 TDs and only 4 INTs as a senior. Plus, he was 6' 2"

they give 5'11" white QBs opportunities every year.

yeah, I went back and looked at his stats before I made this thread, and he didnt run much at all. At least not in comparison to todays QB's

He was given an opportunity he just had an ego and wanted to be a first round pick. He would of def been drafted and even when he said fukk the NFL and went to the NBA teams were still offering him. It was not just a size/running thing, teams were worried he'd say fukk football and want to play in the NBA. Also back then teams were not as QB thirsty as is today. There'd only be 1 or 2 QBs taken in the first round and shyt some years there'd be no QB chosen. For example the '96 draft there was no Qb chosen until mid 2nd round and the the, 2nd QB chosen wasn't taken until the end of the 3rd.

Yeah it's a long-standing myth that the NFL passed up on him as a QB entirely. He's the one who said first round or nothing.

Now, SHOULD he have been a first-round pick in the NFL? Absolutely. I don't see how teams rated Schuler and Dilfer ahead of him unless they were really stressed about him bolting for the NBA after a few years. Or thought he would try to Bo/Deion it and play both. The size thing is irrelevant as he and Schuler are about the same size.
