(Chiefs Kingdom Wins 3rd Super Bowl, 2nd Under Andy Reid as Eagles Lose by FG in Heartbreaker)
(Jalen Hurts put on an MVP Performance and made Super Bowl History in the process)
*Eagles Fall in Super Bowl LVII losing their 3rd Super Bowl in Franchise History (XV, XXXIX, LVII). The Eagles outscored all Three opponents in the playoffs 104-52.
*With 35 Points scored, The Eagles now hold the NFL Record for highest points scored in a Super Bowl Loss. Tom Brady previously held the record in Super Bowl LII with 33 points which the Eagles Won.
*Jalen Hurts Em - Jalen left it all out there on the Field and made NFL History in the Super Bowl with the most Rushing Yards and TD’s scored for a Quarterback. Jalen also tied NFL History for most points scored by a Player in Super Bowl History. Jalen finishes the season with a 16-2 record starting.
*Sloppy Flied - The Arizona Field was a mess and caused both the Offense and Defense to lose footing throughout the game.
*Defensive Issues – Though they held Patrick Mahomes to his lowest Yards of the Season (Under 200), The Defense let up in the 2nd half as the Chiefs were able to come back from being down 10. Due to the Field, the rushers weren’t able to get home. They were constantly sliding throughout the game.
*Coaching - I think Offensively we got the job done but Sirianni and Shane did get a little conservative near the end. Gannon attempted to bring pressure, but it seems he focused more on taking the passing game away from the Chiefs which opened up the running game for them.
First and Foremost Congrats to Andy, Patrick, Travis and the Chiefs Kingdom. They showed why they’ve constantly won many close games and have dominated the last 5 years. Before the game I felt very confident, and the guys did leave it out there. But I knew it was possible they could lose the game. It being Andy helps much more as again we don’t really have Beef with the Chiefs like that in the same we did with the Patriots. Honestly the only thing that frustrates me about this game is the Eagles were clearly the better team. They put up the more yards, Jalen definitely outplayed Patrick through the ground and air. The Eagles lead through the whole game up until the 4th Quarter (Including being up 10 at Half). The Defense held the Chiefs to the lowest passing Offense of the year. If you would have told me before the game Patrick would have only had 188 passing yards and 3 TD’s, I would have told you we won. Clearly Jalen’s fumble was a bad play not to mention the Special Teams. That’s 14 points right there we basically handed to them. The Eagles also left about 2 more TD’s out there. So the final score should have been something like 43-38 (if the FG’s were TD’s) or 35-24 (If Jalen doesn’t fumble or the ST’s doesn’t give up that huge run).
So again if the Eagles make only one less mistake they win that game. The Chiefs are like the Patriots in that you can’t make mistakes, they will capitalize off it. So there’s a lot of talk about Gannon and the Defense. Sure the 2nd Half wasn’t great but if you pull out the full picture, they held the Chiefs the best they could considering the conditions. The Field was trash and I won’t rule out they did that on purpose either. Also yes the Refs Robbed the Birds of 1:30 Seconds and a timeout to answer. Why call that weak ticky tacky mess that literally ended the game. So once again the Eagles were in a Super Bowl Shoot out but ended up on the wrong side this time. So our amazing Season ends how it began. We beat the Lions in a dome 38-35 in week 1. We lose the Super Bowl in a Dome 38-35. Also I thought we broke the hex we have in Arizona by winning their earlier this year. But I guess not. The Eagles have now lost an NFC Championship and Super Bowl in Arizona. (Not to mention our first Championship loss in 1947 was to the Chicago Cardinals before they moved to Arizona). I don’t know what it is but things just don’t end well in Arizona for some reason. So our magical season comes to an end. Again the Eagles losses were them beating themselves and having too many mistakes.
I’m very proud of Jalen, he really left it all out there. Yes he was the MVP of the Super Bowl. I know losing teams don’t get the award though it has happened one time in NFL History. Even Patrick admitted in so many words that Jalen was the best out there. I don’t believe in moral victories, but Jalen made History and should have walk out of there with that Trophy and MVP. Hopefully this is only the beginning. Last year they were ahead of schedule with a Playoff berth. This year they went light years ahead making it to the Super Bowl. Now they just need to win it. I don’t know when the Birds will return to the Super Bowl again but as long as Jalen is our QB, we will have a chance. Still an unbelievable season and I enjoyed every minute of it. Also I do not expect a Super Bowl Hangover from the Birds. They will be back next year as one of the Best Teams in the NFC. Well it was fun taking Birds all season.
The Chiefs are the new Patriots, expect them to be there every season pretty much. All I know is don’t be shocked if the Eagles and Chiefs see each other in another Super Bowl again in the future for a rematch (Just like the Eagles Patriots rematch). After Super Bowl LII, this one doesn't sting as much. When Donovan and Andy lost XXXIX that was devastating. I was too young during Super Bowl XV to feel that loss. I'm am happy I got to witness this team being in 3 Super Bowls in the last 3 Decades. Sorry NFC BEAST, we didn't bring it back home to the Division. Anyways, Andy deserves even more rings than he has. He's that Legendary of a coach. I guess I shouldn't be surprised Andy got us, lol. I still can't believe this is the 3rd Championship Philly Lost this year after the Phillies and Union. In 1980, All 4 Major Philly Teams went to the Championship (Eagles, Phillies, 76ers and Flyers) with only the Phillies winning (Ironically they beat the Kansas City Royals). I guess the 76ers is up next, lol.
