Something like that wouldn't have been negotiated in 2001-02.
It might not have said streaming specifically, but all entertainment contracts have language in regards to “future technologies”.
I just watched dave's diatribe on this.
he signed a bad deal with comedy central for chappelle's show which is totally on him. and whomever can air his show as long as they pay viacom.
that said, the ONLY reason that netflix pulled his show is not cuz they are nice guys. they are too worried about pissing him off and NOT getting any more original stand up specials. so when dave talks about netflix being nice guys, it comes off as disingenuous. netflix simply knows where their bread is buttered.
This. Dave didn’t get screwed or cheated, he just chose to take the upfront money as opposed to the residual income that he would have received from the show. Viacom compensated him more than fairly and lived up to the terms of the contract. From a business stand point Dave seems childish here.
