The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
Well, it's not a good move. Especially for a team rebuilding, or whatever the fukk the Knicks are trying to do. If they weren't willing to spend in this FA, they could've signed some vets to mentor the team. Rivers is a guy you have coming off the bench on an established team providing some microwave offense and energy - that's about it. You don't really want him on a team that's in a state of development.

The Knicks have no use for him; he's just going to be getting in the way.

Getting in the way of what? He’s not taking minutes or shots away from rj Mitchell or obi

I think knicks fans will like him, he’s a good defender, plays with a swagger... they could do a lot worse for the minimum

you’re being dramatical

Lmao why would knicks sign autism rivers? He's got no future in NBA, why take away minutes from young players?

this was done with a purpose. they're gonna give him mins, let him stat-pad, and trade him for a pick. The hook will be he's on a cheap contract and can help a contender. They did the same thing with Morris last season. Rinse & repeat.

Who tf else they got at 2? Ellington and Burks? I mean it’s not like they have a young shooting guard who’s minutes he’s gonna be eating up :manny:
Immanuel Quickley.

But it really affects the whole guard rotation and the development of the team, in general. I mean, it's not like signing Rivers is going to doom them into an eternal cataclysmic existence that they aren't already in - it's just pointless. He doesn't provide them with any value. And he's certainly not a guy you sign to mentor young cats.

For what? A 2nd round pick? Him statpadding just stunts the growth of knicks young players. Rivers is not going off for some 18 ppg to get something nice in return.

The difference is, Morris is a legitimate starter and has shown ability before he landed in NY. The same can't be said for Rivers. The conditions won't be there for him to stat pad either; RJ will be given the keys, Obi will be a focal point of the offense, and Julius is still there.

And the most important thing of all - Morris' value is that he can moonlight as a stretch-4, which is a hot commodity in today's climate. Rivers is far more easily replaceable; no team is giving up a pick of actual value for him when they can just sign a guy off the street.

Surprised that Whiteside has yet to sign considering the rush on bigs the first 2 days of free agency

Interested to see where Aron Baynes will sign and Markieff Morris

I wonder why GS did not target a quality role player with their MLE

No use in using the full MLE for the remaining guys
