They could try to salvage a KCP

Who the Lakers gonna take for KCP though? IT and Frye?

I actually think KCP is a legit option if he's available. I don't trust his shot cause his form still looks ass sometimes but it's way better than it used to be. And his catch-and-shoot in the corners might be the best part of his game.

A KCP-and-JR backcourt would defend Golden State reasonably well (as long as JR still has it) while keeping them honest on defense.

Brook Lopez would be an interesting get too. He could play the role that Kevin Love is playing right now, only he's a much better interior defender than Love is (though not as good at rebounding).

KCP
JR
Lebron
Crowder
Lopez

You'd have a lineup with 5 guys who could hit threes and 5 guys who could play defense.

I don't feel the Lakers are committed to resigning either one. So what would it take to pry them out? Do the Lakers consider Kevin Love an asset, or would they see him as someone who takes up cap space without being a big enough draw?

If you just wanted to get one of them....perhaps Frye and IT? But I'm not sure whether the Lakers would care about that at all as they ain't likely to pay IT the max he wants next year.

It feels like the only thing that would interest LA is getting that Nets pick. But if Cleveland gives up the pick, they'd still probably need Love's salary or the trade don't work. That price probably feels too steep for them. And Cleveland is probably sitting on that pick imagining they gonna get the next Tristan Thompson with it, when in reality they're probably gonna end up with the next Dejuan Wagner instead. :troll:

@The Dankster the biggest reason I specifically brought him up is cause he seems to be a rental that isn’t gonna get renewed. I seen a lot of lakers fans already wanting him out for playing hijack ball sometimes. Dudes probably trying to play himself into a contract there. I think they’d take an IT and Frye package in a heart beat. IT gives them a back up PG option that can facilitate and they already have a top notch defensive system to work around his disability. Frye gives them a center that doesn’t pump p*ssy and will probably be their most consistent shooter the second he steps on the court. It’d be an upgrade for both sides in my eyes.

Really only can work if KCP can at least be better than shump levels of offensive production tho. He’s gonna need to knock down some 3s and not get into tunnel vision mode

KCP is better than Shump on both sides of the ball. He's hitting threes better now that he fixed his shot, and his specialty is catch-and-shoot jumpers from the corners, so he'd eat off of Lebron drives. Playing KCP/Korver/Love/JR at the same time as Lebron would test the hell out of a team's three-point defense.

And I agree that he a rental who they're not going to renew, so he's definitely available.

The issue is that I don't think the Lakers give a shyt about IT. He's the sort of player who needs the ball and who needs to be covered on defense. Why would they change up their whole system for that when they want to develop the young guys? The only reason I see them taking IT is if they think they can build around him, and I don't really think anyone who wants to contend is looking to build around IT. In the end he's getting signed by a lottery team that missed out on the big free agents and is just looking for someone to be exciting and fill seats.

The only asset the Cavs have that I'm sure the Lakers want is that Nets pick. And I don't see any way for the Cavs to package that Nets pick with enough salaries going that way. They'd have to give up Love too, and that's a lot more than they're willing to play for anything short of an elite player.

Why the hell would the cavs do this :scust:

IT and Frye for Caldwell pope and Lopez???

:scust:

The coli lives in some alternate universe

Why would they want slow ass Lopez or even Caldwell pope ridiculous salary

Why? Because Lopez is a better two-way player than any 5 the Cavs have had the last two seasons, and KCP is probably the best 3-and-D guard available.

Why the hell would a team that needs a two-way center and a 3-and-D guard NOT do that? :why:

Lopez can score from all over the court and is an above-average interior defender and rim protector. He would firm up their middle on defense while keeping the spacing on offense. And you probably don't even realize that KCP's salary is pro-rated for the games he's already played. Since all the Cavs care about is the postseason, they'd be getting a big discount.

Meanwhile, IT and Frye are borderline useless to the Cavs if they're trying to compete for a championship. Frye barely plays once the Finals roll around and IT is a massive defensive liability for any contender, but especially for the Cavs who don't have the personnel or the system to cover for him. In the Finals, he's either getting spot minutes for offense or he's sitting on the bench. Anything more than that and the Cavs are basically throwing in the towel just like Boston last year.:yeshrug:

Now, the trade as ya'all just said it does NOT work at all because salary. So like I said, I don't see how to make it work. But if we're just talking personnel, that would be a BIG boost for the Cavs.

I swear I would LOVE to be a GM in a league with some of ya'all as my competition. :lolbron:[/QUOTE]

I'm shocked they turned this around so quickly. :ehh:

They were hot garbage to start the season.

They still have an MVP candidate on his way back to start for Calderon :merchant:
