Steven Spielberg produced this?!?

:what:

In name only because his company Amblin still held the movie rights from all the way back in the 90s.

At one point in 1996, the animation arm of Spielberg’s Amblin, Ablimation, was developing an animated version with Toy Story scribes Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow and Phil Nibbelink and dikk Zondag directing. Prior to that, in 1994, playwright Tom Stoppard reportedly took a crack at the screen version of the stage musical. When Amblimation was shuttered, development ceased on Cats but Amblin retained the screen rights to the Webber musical, hence the reason why they’re named as producer.

Per Deadline Spielberg also hadn't even seen the picture yet before the official premiere because they were still finishing the VFX on the day itself. :dead:

Tom Hopper is complete trash. An Oscar bait charlatan.

I liked The King's Speech, but that was for Colin Firth's performance more than anything else. He deserved his Oscar.

I feel like Idris should legit have an Oscar by now but dude be picking some all time TERRIBLE roles.

When was his legit last great role? Beasts Of No Nation?

A lot of these British actors don't view acting in the same perspective as Americans. Like, it's less about acting as a passion--one that demands a constant level of discernment and quality control-- and more about acting as a job. A lot of them come from the stage, and no one's getting rich off doing Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter plays in front of thirty people. Gary Oldman was talking about being cast in Sid and Nancy, and he explained the rationale pretty well: "I read the script and thought it was a load of rubbish. But my agent said, "They're offering £35,000". I was getting £80 a week at the Royal Court at the time and I thought 'I could do with a flat', it changed my life overnight." And he was talking about five figures! Elba is getting seven figures at least!

These are broadway morons in cats costumes. They look more like furries than actual cats. Half these actors probably never seen a cat a day in their life or worse yet own dogs smh

I bet if cats were to actually star in this movie, it would be getting better reviews than paddington bear 1 & 2

you did not watch paddington, one or two.

Made a thread in the Locker Room

I walked out.

:hubie:

This scene right here let me know what I was in for.

Worse than the Oompa Loompas from Tim Burton’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.

A CGI redo will not save this. Whoever said this does not translate well on screen was correct. The art direction was trash. It looks like a cartoon with human faces.
