I get the argument of how he should have done better, read more, taken more time, etc...
but what leverage did this kid have, at the time anyway, to sign a BETTER deal than whatever he has now?
its not like the kid was a proven successful independent with an engaged, cult-like fan base. he basically paid to go viral, and any buzz around him was flash-in-the-pan, novelty based. word of mouth spread that he was a rapping human meme, and people clicked play to see what was so funny. he was lucky to parlay that into a legitimate deal
its not like he is a one of a kind talent adding something revolutionary new to the game. people like this are exactly the types you'd expect to sign a shytty deal...
and on top of that, outside of the number of people involved, we dont even know if his deal is actually bad. hes lucky anyone is interested at all and lucky to have finessed the internet and general public into listening. hes playing with house money, basically
Wack is probably lowkey extorting these dudes in some fashionIt's 2019 and Nikka's is still signing contracts without reading them?
After decades of examples for reference??
@3Rivers do ya thang
The dumb thing is that...he had options. A LOT of them. This is not some dude from broke country bumblefukk Georgia trying to make it and signing some shytty deal with an ATL label to move to the big city and get money. This dude is a tall light skinned nikka from LA, who bytches LOVE. You can't turn that into money and build a movement? The blueprint is right there, breh. He was releasing shyt independently to start but apparently it was only one mixtape. You know how easy it would have been for him to be doing shows nonstop in LA and Oakland, release a couple tapes, get some big local features (Nip, Snoop, Kendrick, Q, etc) and thrive on the west coast before getting some type of distribution deal...or hell, even signing with a big label but with a better contract?
I got no sympathy for this dude. You aren't from the trap. You aren't from the gutter of the gutter in some southern town. You're in LOS ANGELES.
