Mexican officials say eight people were killed in gunbattles in the Sinaloa state capital of Culiacan in what is being described as a failed operation to detain the son of convicted Sinaloa cartel boss Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán.

Federal security officials said in a news conference Friday that those killed include one civilian, one member of the National Guard, one prisoner and five attackers.

Yep that's basically the Endgame of the Mexican president or he has the balls he can literally go scorched Earth on all the cartels...:francis: but will he?!?

Unlikely, AMLO is notoriously soft on crime. He probably will never do shyt unless he ends up being an international embarassment

I ain't claiming to know that life first hand :whoa:
But from what I've read, it's a combination of both. The higher folks of course got big homes with barracks worth of nikkas to defend them. The normal street goons go back home to their families. There was a book I read years ago that focused on ciudad Juarez, when it was at it's worse. One woman interviewed said it was normal for young dudes in your family to admire the goon life. Her nephew met some characters, and the next thing they know he showed up back home with an armored suv, dropped out of school and was in the life.

:whew:

Do they treat the lower ranking guys as being disposable?

Out here in my damn drawls
Mexico has the firepower, it's more complicated then that. Its where they were, and how the operation transpired. This is in Nayarit in 2017, this is a different boss, extremely powerful in his home state. Look how he was handled. They sent Blackhawk gunships for him.

You already lost if you have to resort to using an assault chopper on your own soil in a residential area

Not a good look for Mexico at all.

More people got killed in Brazil last year than fukking Syria. Brazil is whole another bread of violence.
True but that's some parts of Brazil that are extremely safe. Its really just the Northeast region that's out of control. Rio? Its actually safer than Compton based on statistics. Of course Brazil is very violent but the violence is not bringing the govr to its KNEES like with Central America lol. But I understand someone can easily pick this post apart.

I should say that the southern cone of South America specifically is the safest part of Latin America.

Sad thing is it's a lose-lose for the government.

Keep him arrested and innocent people die and your city burns

Release him and the Cartels now have ultimate power and no ounce of fear of you

craziest part is 1) that those cartel mfers blood is probably 50% cocaine during this shyt...think about how much more effective of a soldier you can be if you have literally no fear and 2) think about how some of these cats are the ones who are sealing your driveway, doing your new bathroom renovation and cutting that big ass tree in your back yard.

I remember seeing a documentary that some of the baddest hit men do their dirt sober

about that second part not sure what you are referring to

It may be a lose lose but there should only be 1 option which is to not cave to their demands.

If I was Mexico I would be asking for military assistance from other countries to get rid of their drug problem once and for all with very strong stipulations to make sure my sovereignty is maintained.

But given that things like this aren't ever done out of altruism I guess that would be wishful thinking. But I'm sure Trump would love to say his military and his administration got rid of the drug problem south of the border so maybe there is an opportunity there.

He would be probably be willing to do it with concessions regarding NAFTA
