ESPN's Chris Broussard spoke with several league executives about Carmelo Anthony, asking them about Anthony's strengths and weaknesses and if they thought he had enough drive to win a title on his own (Insider link).

The execs didn't paint an optimistic picture. One compared him to, gulp, Stephon Marbury. Another had this to say:
"He's probably Robin on a championship team instead of Batman. He has Batman talent, but the intangibles are missing."

That's not good news for the Knicks, who have based their whole organizational plan on the idea that Anthony can lead them to a championship.

The point was brought up in that VERY article against the "Melo's not a winner" argument. Won a championship at college. Took a 17 win Denver squad to 43 wins and a playoff spot in EVERY season. You can't say Melo's NOT a winner, you CAN argue that he's not a "championship" caliber player, and EVERY superstar will go face that criticism until they actually win a ring

Carmelo is a good player but his greed one of the reasons why the Knicks can't win a title. If he signed with the Knicks after his contract expired the Knicks would have had a better supporting cast around him. Instead he wanted to go to his team of choice and get paid the most money possible and by doing that he killed the Knicks chances at making any good roster moves.

Also the Knicks as an organization is a joke. They were the only team dumb enough to pay Amare max money when my Suns (and every team in the league) knew that his knees were shot. Also their owner sucks and is the main reason why they can't get even close to getting to the finals. As long as Dolan is the owner of the Knicks they will never win a title.

If Kevin Love woulda accomplished the bolded, they would have already put him on Mt. Rushmore, but somehow Melo isnt a "winner" because he hasnt singlehandedly beaten great teams that were clearly better than his. The fact that they are trying to draw marbury comparisons just shows you hate deep the hate for melo runs, and how malicious their commentary is concerning him. Marbury was a chemically imbalanced head case, who went to the playoffs like twice in his career, never making it out of the first round, and had frequent and notorious meltdowns.

Melo is the new A.I to whiteys...the NBA nicca they love to hate, and who stands for everything thats "wrong" with the league.
