The Land That Time Forgot
People always say this but I personally have never been at a Black wedding, bbq, and definitely not a party where they play his music. On a cruise ship with a bunch of old cacs dancing along on deck (:scust:)? Yes. And even if 70 year old grandmas and 7 year old little kids at weddings like it, I mean, this makes him a wedding singer. Wedding singer/cruise ship singer/karaoke is pretty much his thing. It’s amazing to me that anyone takes him serious.

I haven't been to a black family event the past two years where they didn't play his music, not to mention a cousin's
talent show where her girls' dance troupe used both "24K Magic" and "Finesse" in their routine.

I think the :flabbynsick: generation that grew up on hearing Motown/Stax/Philly International/SOLAR melodies and rhythm would prefer his "karaoke" to drug trade and gang initiation lyric rituals on top of beats selected from an Android app.

The experience in the video below may be foreign and exotic to some, but it is what many of us still culturally enjoy.

So you’re telling me to you there’s no in between? Fake karaoke OR gang initiation lyrics? That’s it?

If you were raised on a variety that ranged from: Alicia Myers' "I Want To Thank You" to BBD's "Poison"; from "Love Is The Message" by MFSB to "Dangerous Diseases" by Michigan and Smiley"; from "Body and Soul" by Sarah Vaughn to "Been So Long" by Anita Baker; from "Nobody Beats the Biz" by Biz Markie to "Love Calls" by Kem - I'd say that the severely limited range of popular music choices today leaves a very narrow middle.

Still looking for dynamics, movement, timbre, texture, meaning, excitement, tempo and of course, soul.

Its a bit hypocritical because if a Black artist made this song the tone would be different. Fact of the mattet if Bruno is bringing back new jack swing fukk it. The dude is probably of most talented pop r&b artist I have seen in maybe 20 years and the last 2 albums were great listens.

As for Cardi B. She's playing the game better than most rappers male or female. She knows how to keep herself on the charts.

Has nothing to do with if he makes great music, who he shows love to, etc. I’m sure he’s a nice guy. The music industry treats him totally different because of his race/ethnicity and that’s fact. He creates black music for whites. If he was Brandon Montell from Jackson, Miss he would never gotten the push.

OT but what happened to your failed gay alias btw?
:umad:

Bruno grinded to make it....

Meanwhile you sitting here on thecoli aggy

:wow: You just totally missed the point of why Bruno is being pushed. Ok let me break this down. Beyoncé and Rihanna aren’t Phillipino immigrants doing soul/funk music. Bruno Mars makes the same music that whites enjoy while in similar vein as Raphael Saadiq but the later isn’t all on pop radio, award shows, etc. That’s why people say he’s a vulture, makes faux soul, etc

You can't really compare Raphel Saadiq to Bruno Mars. Its apples and oranges. No one can take Raphael Saadiq's talent from him, but let's be honest, even among us in the Black community, Raphael Saadiq is severely underrated. What ultimately separates the two is the performance. You legit have people, even older Black people comparing Bruno Mars to greats like Michael Jackson and Prince largely due to performance. His songs resonate across the board with different age groups. Raphael Saadiq makes grown folks music and on top of that, dude is a much more seasoned, older artist. Raphael isn't about to get played on Pop radio.

problem is that i wish more black artists would do this...but you got chris brown butchering remakes :snoop:

I keep saying if Chris Brown wasn’t always trying to add a thug element to his music he would hace these kinds of hits and tracks. He should of been the one to bring back New Jack. Hell that Justin beieber album black ppl were fond of a few years back was all Chris’s DNA

I agree I wish more rode that mid 90s new jack swing wave Cardi B Bruno doing. However, check out these two Nigerian sisters, they goy that mid 90s sound pact down, you would have sworn it was made in 95
