Y'all keep discounting women and girls who are starving for representation. I know 4 people have have seen this movie multiple times just because they love seeing a female superhero. I took my mentee last weekend (it was my 3rd time) and she's already talking about arranging to bringing her friends to see it this weekend. Multiple views from women and girls = big money. The hype on Tumblr is crazy...this fandom is exploding.

not discounting that at all, but they marketed this movie HEAVY as fukk. And of course the tie into Endgame was the cherry on top too. I'm not on the this movie is such overrated bullshyt wave like lots of dudes are. I thought it was a cool solid movie.

I have yet to hear anyone talk about this movie in real life. It must be killing it overseas

This "Infinity War" boost is such a stupid argument, the whole point of sequels/prequels/shared universes is to boost the next flick. Except for the first Ironman movie they've all been eating off each other.

Also, Antman and the Wasp didn't do these numbers so maybe people just like this movie on top of the MCU/IW boost.

Funny if they go to the Quantum realm in EG Antman and the Wasp will have the bigger tie in.
I think Ant-man and the Wasp suffered from being a summer release in a more crowded field. March people are starving for a blockbuster and there is no similar comp. Plus the whole SJW aimed marketing and controversy that followed drummed up interest in this IMO.
