is there anyone that doesn't think this is going to be a success? It ties into Endgame and women are gonna see it off that feminist shyt too. Anyone rooting against it financially is wasting their time.

The first paragraph I agree with, your last paragraph however I can't see happening simply because Marvel films outside of the Avengers don't cross over a billion. I think only IM3 and Civil War were the only non Avengers movies to do it before Black Panther.

Yea, saying Captain Marvel will surpass BP is saying Captain Marvel will be the 3rd highest grossing movie in American history. i.e. that it'll outperform Infinity War, Jurrassic World, Titanic, etc domestically.

If talking worldwide, CM surpassing BP would mean CM becomes the 9th highest grossing movie in the history of cinema. And hey, anything is possible, but it would take more than any one ethnic group/demographic showing up to pull that off, esp domestic.

Put another way, BP did 202 milly opening weekend and the reported audience breakdown was 35% black, 35% white, 20% hispanic, 10% everyone else. So if no black ppl showed up opening weekend, the movie still does 132 mill just off white folks, hispanics, asians and indian americans. That's unfathomable

I felt the same way, but now I want to see it, I been on a Marvel kick for about 3 weeks now, after I finally gave Antman a chance, it was better than I expected, not as surprising as how fukking good Spiderman HC (I waited to see it until like 2 months ago because I didn't think it would be good). Instead of the Thor movies for me, it is the IronMan movies, 1 was alright, only because Marvel and that movie changed the game, 2 was ehhhhh asf, and I will never watch 3, NOPE.

Yeah, from what I see on yt and shyt, she is supposed to be a real a$$hole, especially during the comic run of Civil War 2, but I still trust Marvel. They get way more right than they do wrong, and I really want to see how powerful they make her in the movie, to gage how effective she will be in Endgame.

And to be fair to me, I smoke a lot, and am stoned pretty much every waking hour I am not at work, so I like the comedy shyt they do sometimes, because they are serious when they have to be.

Yeah BP did those numbers mostly due to repeat viewings as well. I know at least 12 personal friends who saw more than once in the theater.
Captain may have a big opening weekend, but i don't think people will watch 2, 3 or 4 times. Unless the movie is really really good.

Yeah, and BP was a fukking movement. It clicked in a way that movies don't, and probably won't ever again, in regards to superhero movies anyway. I just don't think anyone but detractors are putting that weight/pressure on CM, other than the people that want it to fail because they are GamerGate/Woman Hating, Incels, that want to push a narrative that doesn't exist, because they feel threatened by women for some strange fukking reason. It's the same fukking clowns that claim "White, straight males are under attack" and "masculinity is under attack" because they can't get laid, and they can't sexually assault/harass women anymore, out in the open anyway.

In the US it was definitely a movement. It was crazy how much that movie blew up. I don’t know a single person who didn’t see it. Even my momma saw it and had no idea what was going on.

Altho it still over performed compared to all other MCU solo movies not named Ironman 3 or Cap:Civil War (if we're counting that).

i.e. foreign box office numbers:

GotG 2 : 473 million
Thor Ragnoraok: 538 million
SM Homecoming: 545 million
Black Panther: 646 million

But since it did so huge domestic, it kinda makes the international numbers look bad, even though they're pretty impressive
