These trailers aren't bad per se, just kinda by-the-numbers imo. The "mystery of the stoic hero's forgotten origin" is the hook they're prioritizing over anything else, so we'll see how strongly that resonates with general audiences.

I don't find the hook that captivating (altho i know there's probably going to be a twist), so i'm more interested in the fights; i.e. how formidable they make the skrulls and if they do go dbz/MoS with her fight scenes
Yeah, this needs fire fight scenes. Let's do some Superman shyt.
Gonna have a lot easter eggs since it's gonna be the 90s looking forward to that.
And Brie is making me look bad. I rode for her because she can act but her lines in the trailers are sus. I'll keep an open mind tho. :patrice:

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I just can't do it brehs. I already don't like this character, but then these trailers look bland as hell.

This is firmly in the Ant-man tier of "maybe I'll watch it on a rainy day after it's out on video. :yeshrug:"

I wouldn't get too caught up in the trailer.

I think they will be keeping A LOT of the good shyt from the trailers.

Of course they have to market and promote the character, but because it's so close to A4, and both movies will have trailers, I don't think they want to give too much away.

I think they're keeping it bland on purpose. And I think the character will evolve overtime just like Steve Rogers.

Gotta wonder if they mention Inhumans or Celestials at some point to set up Eternals

Hope they sneak in a Warbird reference too :lolbron:
I'm sure Marvel would like to forget about the Inhumans for a while.

The rest of the world already did.

If a trailer doesn't sell me on the movie, it's not an effective trailer. Obviously trailers don't show everything, but they're not giving me anything to go on. Brie Larson looks like she's sleepwalking through this role, and beyond the action, nothing else seems to have any life to it.

You could compare it to Steve, but Evans was perfect in the role from jump and that showed in the trailers for The First Avenger.

You mentioned it on the other page, but i'd rather have had that bryce dallas chick as captain marvel. Not bc i think she's better at acting (i honestly don't know about either of these broads outside trivial shyt like jurrassic world/skull island) but bc if the acting is going to be this wooden, might as well just let the prettier woman with the big ass deliver the lines :pachaha:. Shallow i know, but :manny:

Tho tbf, i think we all still assume Brie will exhibit some strong acting chops in the film itself, since that's the big thing everyone says about her (that she's a very talented actress)

Breh the First Avenger is one of Marvel's lowest grossing movies. And the character evolved DRAMATICALLY in the sequel and arguably took the top character spot from Tony Stark.

And as far as selling, you can't compare the MCU back when that movie came out to now. the Marvel Studios logo sells itself at this point.

Ronan at 1:45 in the trailer. GOAT Mendelsohn at 1:46.

Overall, I'll wait for the film. Trailers don't have me rushing to the theatres. :ld:

That doesn't change anything I said. Evans was perfectly cast as Captain America in The First Avenger. His performance was praised from the beginning. Yes the character grew, but his performance was always good. Larson isn't giving me any of that right now.

I said it's not selling me. Obviously, Marvel could put a movie that was two hours of Hulk taking a shyt and it would do at least $400 million at the box office. That doesn't mean it's something I would want to see, as someone who doesn't go see every Marvel movie in theaters (or at all in case of Ant-Man and The Wasp).

No need to try and turn the first avenger into a classic to prove your point. The movie was an origin story filler to get to the avengers movie. It ranks at the bottom in critic reviews and revenue so stop it :snoop:

You're just one person. You have your opinion.

All I'm saying is I believe Marvel has the luxury of not showing everything in the trailers to promote your movies. All i'm saying is they don't have to pull out all stops to sell YOU on an upcoming movie because they have enough loyal customer to generate acceptable box office goals.

Who says I'm trying to turn it into a classic? I freely admit admit The First Avenger was just okay as a movie overall. That doesn't change that people have always liked Chris Evans as Captain America or that he was always good in the role. You're responding to things I haven't said. lol

Marvel can do what they want with their trailers, yes. Never said they couldn't. That said, if I don't think it's an effective trailer or that the movie looks boring, I'm gonna say that. That's why they put these things out, ultimately - for people to discuss them. That discussion doesn't necessarily have to be positive.

bruh, nobody cared about the First Avenger. it gets no replay. The Winter Soldier is where the character took off.

Just like Thor. it took the 3rd movie for Marvel to get the character right on the big screen.

You aint even trying to give the character a chance. At least see the movie first (it doesn't matter if its in theaters or on your laptop).

At the end of the day, it seems like you're looking for reasons not to like the character. This thread is filled with people criticizing how she looks. She's not sexy enough or her ass is flat.

I guess this will be Marvels first flop :mjlol:
