Wouldn't painter job cause health risks in the long term?

Being around all those fumes from paint can't be good, even if you have a face mask and other protective gear

I feel like electrical can go a long way, but I'm not too familiar with aircraft painters

Yep dealing with the paint is just the tip of the iceberg as far as safety hazards are concerned

Not that easy.
It's not not that easy to the point where you're going to make your decision based on what people here tell you. I would hope, anyway.
Those people know you, your thought processes, how you feel about things, and your life in general, and have your best interests in mind.
People here are just going to tell you what they think they would do, and/or what they wish they had done. "hit the gym, drink water, chase paper, and make your own burgers at home instead of going to McDonald's."
Listen to real people in real life.

That’s the messed up part. Chromate swab tests have come back positive in areas way outside the hot zones like break rooms and offices. A lot of these facilities have garbage airflow design or shared HVAC that doesn’t isolate the hot/cold zones right so it spreads. People think PPE in the paint booth is enough, but cross contamination is real and once that dust gets tracked out or goes airborne it ends up where it shouldn’t be.

I need some feedback

I recently received two job offers

One job is in Tucson, AZ as an aircraft painter. It pays pretty well

The other gig is a low voltage electrician installing fire alarms in school districts in the DFW area. Pay is low but there is a decent chance for career advancement.

I currently stay in Fort Worth and to be honest I like it here, but finding a decent paying gig is tough right now in this job market.

Haven't you been trying to break into IT? I would take the alarm tech job. It might led to a career working in the internet of things.

Unless they're really old, cameras, NVRs, access control systems, alarms, medical devices, etc. are more than likely connected to a network.

You can really get exposure to technical work that can't be outsourced or automated any time soon.

In the Silver Lining
Fort Worth and adjacent cities are cool in their on way, it's like another universe in DFW.

Folks are right, the long term health implications are worth considering. They could probably produce less harmful paints, but it would also probably cost more ....

Matter of fact @ChatGPT-5 look up "health conditions in the aircraft painting field vs electrician field"

Should give you some insight.
