Nope.
To me Canelo hasn't CLEARLY beaten a legit threat that was in his prime and that campaigned in his division. Getting the win and clearly beating someone/dominating are 2 different things to me.
Mosley- solid win, but Shane was way past it.
Trout - solid win, but I thought he lost it or it could have been a draw. He looked good for about half that fight.
Lara - solid win, but shytty fight and during the only 4 rounds that Lara decided to actually box instead of running, he made Saul look bad.
Kirkland- solid win, but James was mad inactive and he lacked Wolfe in his corner. So it's more like Canelo beat up Kirkland's ghost.
Baldomier - solid win since he was the first to KO him, but this ain't the version Forrest, Floyd, and Clottey fought.
Gomez - solid, but he was getting his shyt boxed up and I don't remember that stoppage being that good either.
Older brother Cotto - solid win, but he damn near got knocked out.
I like Canelo. Dude throws some of the meanest combos and he fights good competition but he hasn't gotten that GOOD signature victory yet against a capable opponent.
Examples of good signature wins to me are as follows.....
Swift beating Mattysse
Broner beating Demarco
Crawford beating Gamboa
Rigo/Walters beating Donaire
Donaire beating Darchiniyan the 1st time....
The Cotto fight could very well be Canelo's time to shine and he can prolly accomplish what I'm asking of him. Who knows. I just can't say your p4p talent because you fight the best. You have to look good and clearly beat the best. Canelo fights the best, but hasn't dominated them yet. That and his shytty stamina are my only gripes with dude, but overall I fukks with Canelo. He got some nice names on his record, but they don't translate into good performances. Hopefully that makes sense to the OP. No shade, but some might take it that way.
This is prolly the most I posted about boxing all week.
