Black people are pretty much the same. We mostly come from the Caribbean, Africa, or escaped slavery from the US and came to Canada. I've got black family all over Canada and the US, all the way down to Texas, North Carolina and Oakland. Black people from the East Coast are almost like Southern people. There are links between Black people from Scotia to New Orleans.
Canada likes to pretend they don't have a racism problem, but if you were to ask Black and Indigenous people, we'd tell you the opposite. Most of our culture is American. 65% of the entire population lives a 90 minute drive from a US border, so most of the media we get comes from the US.
Outside of major towns Canada is very white, so if you are anything else you stand out. But in Toronto your surrounded by every race and culture.
Edit - think Brooklyn or London UK.
