India bout to invade Canada :skip:

Nah but for real...India becoming a number 1 world power someday in the future is definitely plausible. Before the UK utterly destroyed them, they were the most powerful country in Asia.

They got it in them to be something major :manny:

I did not have a major diplomatic incident between Canada and India on my bingo card. I'm curious to see how this ends up. The US and UK need India to deal with Russia and China, but Canada is the US's biggest trading partner and a bigger ally than India.

What's next, a war between Mexico and Brazil

Other than the youth dividend (young average age) and population, which they don't have have the infrastructure to maximize the advantage of, what makes you say this? Population does not automatically mean they will become a superpower.

India has not demonstrated the ability to maximize the advantages they have.

Manufacturing and infrastructure (building efficient supply chains, etc.) is what shot China to the top. India's bread and butter is the service sector, which doesn't yield as many dividends as manufacturing.

They could also face the same issues with declining FDI (foreign investment) if Modi and the BJP continue with their increasing authoritarianism (which it looks like they will). India is also notoriously unstable because of ethnic conflicts.

I continue to harp on it, and i know you only used the word "plausible", but the claims of India's future as the next superpower are way overstated.

Well they aren't going to get worse as a country anytime soon. They probably just need better leadership and a nationwide goal.
