Doncic has a higher floor AND ceiling than Young, shyt ain't rocket science
Doncic was a legit consideration for #1 a couple weeks ago, it's basically unanimous among analysts and mock drafters that Young at 5 was high for him
I think Doncic is going be better and the pick is protected enough that it won't be a massive L if dallas continues to suck

you feel for the cac media hype :mjlol:

It’s top 5 protected for next year which is gonna be a awful draft.

Having a pick in the 6-10 range next year will be like a pick in the mid to late teens this year

Here's the thing, if the pick doesn't convey then it might still be in the lottery the draft after that. They could also trade the pick before next year's draft is up for value. We think 2019 is top heavy until the college season pans out, guys might sneak up on people because there's always surprises, Young being a perfect example himself. ANYTHING can happen, even having that pick to begin with is an incredible asset that's worth much more than Doncic. They might have passed on Doncic to get Young and a guy who might be just as good as Doncic.

It could backfire but atleast they put it all in their own hands of their own talent evaluation.

We can choose when to use that pick for the next 5 years...we don't like how it's looking..2020 with only top3 protection ..2020 aint the hot..2021:ehh: and henceforth.

Add our own pick and a very talented PG who did some unprecedented shyt at 18:blessed:

There’s no way a pick in the 6-10 range in a much worse draft has more value then Doncic

You nor any of us know how good next year's draft will be. We don't even know if they'll even get the pick, maybe they get in the top of the draft after that, maybe low. Maybe Doncic gets injured. Maybe the future pick. You don't know, we don't know. It's still a more valuable asset that can be used flexibly. Let's stop pretending like we know the future. What we do know is Atlanta traded Doncic for a player considered a slightly worse prospect and a future prospect that is likely to also be a great prospect, and they can do whatever they want with it.

We do have an idea how good a draft is gonna be nowadays because you judge it by the incoming freshmen class and this by all accounts is one of the weaker classes in years.

Could one or two guys come from nowhere and be lotto picks? Sure but it still isn’t gonna be a very good draft overall.

Coming into last year guys like Bagley Ayton Bamba Doncic Porter etc we’re highly thoughtful of for a few years as potential elite prospects. Next years class has no potential franchise level players.

That's not true. People don't think the next class is as deep, but there's franchise level talents. RJ Barrett, Cameron Reddish, Romeo Langford, Nassir Little are just as coveted as the top guys in this class, without including the freshman surprises that we always see like Young was, and D'angelo Russell a few years back. Again, you don't know, we don't know.

The Mavs would LOVE to have gotten Doncic and still kept next year's pick if they could, because Doncic could flop just like anyone else could

The guys you mentioned at the top of the draft next year are thought of way less then this years top guys
