He didn't have a son. It was Rocket's son.

But this movie dealt with differing life experiences so well. I didn't agree with Koba....but I felt where he was coming from. And Caesar was coming from the standpoint that he has lived and grown with good humans while also seeing the evil that other humans were capable of. Koba only ever saw the bad. In the end, when the positions of power were essentially reversed, Koba became that which he hated.
