Calling an artist a new version of an older artist isn't even a compliment you're basically saying Weeknd will always be known as a Prince rehash and will never stand out as his own artist

Hip Hop fans have some of the worst ways to compliment their artists

Prince sucks. One of those artists black people claim they stan but never bump their music.

Prince doesn't suck at all, you must be high...but you're right about the second part

Many people say they like Prince just to make their music taste look good but they've only heard Purple Rain and 1999 or strictly his mid 80s shyt

I still say to this day his 1990-1998 shyt is his best. Personal opinion

There's parallels in subject matter/content. Weeknd is nowhere near the caliber of artist that Prince is. The fact that you're talking about his songwriters and producers doesn't put Weeknd in a special class either. That's your average run of the mill popular singer. Special artists excel regardless of who is producing or writing the songs.

Since when was The Weeknd your average run of the mill singer? He's one of the last Singers doing traditional R&B.

I think Miguel is more like Prince than the Weeknd.

I saw a Miguel concert no to long ago and his show along with mannerism was most definitely inspired by Prince.

Miguel comes across more like Marvin Gaye vocally.

Been? Prince played every instrument on his album and mixed multiple genres together. Weeknd's new album is pop, including various tracks he didn't write...

His new album is genius regardless of what type of label you wanna throw on it. It's actually more like Traditional R&B mixed with other shyt but whatever

You can't be trusted anymore if you think The Weekend is anything close to the purple Yoda known as Prince.

Please go listen to Prince music before you go making rash judgments. Prince has done jazz, funk, rock, classical etc. The weekend is looking like a one trick pony.

He has a great trick tho. Musically he's Prince Rogers Nelson but Of Today

I know what you mean but he's different. The Weeknd is original enough to stand on his own. He's no YGD Tha Top Dogg
