Nah Breh, it doesn't

Listening to the record:

Vocally, who is the weeknd channeling? Definitely, aint prince.

Listen to the delivery, vocal embellishments, the hook, song structure. It screams MJ.

Instrumentally: the record is typical neu-Disco inspired by later era boogie, with touches of electro. So, you're going to hear similarities to Zapp in the instrumentation. (I'm actually not a fan of this beat at all)

However the groove, The bassline especially, is a little too pop for either Zapp or Prince.

Sound like some shyt MJ would have gone over.

:yeshrug:
Don't try to use your knowledge of history to try to appear smarter than you are. You sound smart to a dumbass but I see right thru it.

Michael Jackson was about being in love and being happy and having something positive going on. He was "the light"

Whereas Prince represents "the dark". He sung about drugs, orgies, masturbation, and made party records not just for the Pop World but for The Hood. And so did Mike, but Prince was a Secks Symbol with it.

If The Weeknd remade a Prince record he'd probably do it justice. I'm sure he's tried to but Rogers don't be leasing his music out like that

Didn't we just go through this with Janet Jackson and Tinashe?
Tinashae needs a couple more years and hits underneath her belt. Janet was on a different level at her career in this stage. Tinashae's cool but she needs to put in some more work.

Everytime The Weeknd comes out he got somethin to finesse

The fact that you mentioned that IF he keeps his producers and songwriters in tact contradicts your entire premise.
No it doesn't and all I'm getting at is that if he keeps it up to par like he has or better yet, exceeds. Then what can you say

Fact is, he's no different than Prince and he's the total opposite of MJ

Prince is one of the greatest musicians in human history. Weeknd is a homeless Canadian who doesn't play an instrument or compose music and only sounds good singing because of studio wizardry.

I wish I could neg the OP 10,000 times. He deserves a malcolmxxx45/king karim type neg train for this dumb shyt.

Prince wrote and produced a lot of his own music. That's not to mention that he also plays multiple instruments. If you're arguing subject matter/content, there are some parallels, but if you're talking about what they bring to music artistically, there's nothing that makes this a valid comparison.

He's the artist formally known as Prince reincarnated. Everything about him says Prince Rogers Nelson. From the music to his style. Shawty a bad muthafukka. Especially if he can keep the right Production Team (and song writers) behind him. All he gotta do is show up to the studio and it's a rap.

"I said who's gonna fukk you like me?" :ohlawd:
Prince was the team. That's the difference maker. How many instruments can dude play?
