Good advice from the effortless gent site

  1. Contrast is key. Light top, dark bottom, light shoes. Dark top, light bottom, dark shoes. You want a good amount of contrast among the three.
  2. Avoid tops that are too close to your skin tone. It makes you appear pale and washed out. Read this article for a more in-depth explanation.
  3. Stay away from tonal outfits (all three pieces being the same color, or close in value). It can be pulled off successfully, but also has the possibility of looking kind of terrible. It’s a more advanced style concept which we’ll cover in a different article.

Most of those seem too tight/ :wrist:to me

This.

Why they got the black man posed up like he doing a Vogue cover? Nevermind what he's carrying in his hand and how it looks..which is wholly feminine to me.

@The Wave help the breh out, you got good fashion sense and are familiar with this new gen style.

Always
PM me, I'll let you see my IG for pointers. I used to dress like you when I was a nanny. There are hella pictures of me in cardigans. Lol I blacked out and didn't even know it. No wonder I'm over formal and semi formal. I did that everyday for years.

It's a great look man.

when it comes to fashion, start slowly so you can acquire a good eye to pick up pieces in the future

at your stage, you could honestly get away with just wearing affordable but modernly "trendy" clothing from H&M. then from there, just find pieces online.

for more formal settings, do your research on brands and get a good tailor.

a lot of the urban street brands are dope if you're in the 18 - 25 demographic, but are otherwise unnecessarily flashy.
the best look is coordinated, but subtle.

I kinda dress like the dude in this stock photo. I wear shoes like the ones below

I want to update my look. What should I do to change it up? I want something more urban but mature, if that's even a thing.
First thing you should do is get measurements. Fit makes a great difference. Next find pictures of celebs/athletes with the style you like (preferably someone with the same complexion as you) and copy a few looks from them. You should be able to dress for any occasion. Go to stores and try stuff on as well. See what looks and feels right in you.

You dress like you're into white women

Cop some slim fit jeans, polo, henleys

Chelsea boots, and don't buy graphic tees
