Of course they can.

China could call out the US on debt (essentially the economic nuke button)..BRICs are strong on resources and China has a lot of the commodities market already...the Fed is tapering off quantitative easing and in the fairly near future interest rates are going to rise...a lot of these countries are shifting away from the $ as the reserve currency and they have OPEC on lock. If China says fukk you to the US, calls out on debt and has the BRICs go to the Yuan...then they will have a stranglehold...

I would like you to explain in thorough detail how China dumping our debt would play out in the international markets. A lot of people use this as a talking point to show that they have leverage over the US, but conveniently forget the fact that China has essentially already began to diversify its bond portfolio away from treasuries and it has had no impact on yields whatsoever. The fact that the fed is stepping out of the market and interests rates have even declined shows there is a very strong market out there for our debt. If they were to play that card, where are they going to park their money and what kind of effects do you think that would have on the yuan? They arent anywhere near having the domestic economy to offset their ability to be a low cost producer and the need to balance currencies will lead other buyers to step right in. It would be a short-term shock at most and would probably leave the US in a more strategically advantageous position in the long-run.

Saying the cost is too high(due to blow back or what have you) isnt the same as saying we "can't". We could, it just wouldnt be in our best interest.

I don't think the U.S. is untouchable, their not invincible.

Also, some one correct me if im wrong - i remember seeing a short new piece on how china have fukked up the international shipping/freight game by building their own shipping fleets and undercutting the shyt out of a lot of the competition/putting a decent % out of business

The ONLY way BRICS can threaten the Western empire is if they decide to create their own central bank along with a currency completely independent of the dollar, euro, pound.

That's the direction this is all heading imo. This is why Western powers are trying their best to wage war.

The situations that the US are in now ..where we are basically fighting non uniformed civilians means that there can't ever be something called a victory. What defines a victory in afganistan? Invading a country and taking over? We did that. There will always be opposition when occupying countries. The US going to war with an established nation with an established military would be The real test. No other country could Invade and beat the US on it's own soil imo ... Which would leave us invading and taking one of those countries... Which would also be close to impossible. All this to say there won't be a ground war on a large scale without nukes involved.
