Can someone please explain to me how Breaking Bad is considered the GOAT show?

I'm in the middle of Season 4 and while the show is intriguing and has a very complex storyline, I find myself getting frustrated at all the loopholes in this show. There's so many things that don't really add up and it can be down right annoying getting through an episode because of how much this show reeks of white privilege. It's cool but the way people were talking about it over the past couple of years, I was expecting way more, especially to be in 4 seasons. I started watching it at the end of September on Netflix and binge watch a few episodes here and there. I'm not saying it's bad, but I'm saying its way less than what I expected. So far 3 out of 5 stars generously.

I don't think "Breaking Bad" is better than "The Sopranos" or "The Shield", I even prefer "Sons of Anarchy". Walt is a smart guy but he's kind of a wimp (obviously has a suburban wife and kids and is a teacher). I think Skyler had too much power over him too, that whole Ted Bennekke (or however you spell his name) incident made me lose some respect for him as a character :yeshrug:

Jessie and Walt are a bunch of idiots. Walt dry snitching on himself at the dinner table over Gail's lab notes was fukking ridiculous. Jessie is a waste of a character and has no real purpose except being a fukk up but they give him so much time. This show is way overhyped. It's not even a great show. I can name a bunch that were much better than this. I'm willing to bet this show gets worse every episode until the finale.

It's a result of people binge watching it once it came out on Netflix around its fourth season. People like nothing more than feeling like they're a part of something and are "in the know". They got to watch the final couple of seasons (the ones also considered the best) in real time and that upped the hype incredibly. You add in a crowd pleasing finale and it's only normal people would hold the show in high esteem, regardless of if it actually deserves it. The majority of people who tout The Wire as the GOAT (which it is) didn't watch it live. Hence why it didn't win any Emmy's and wasn't hyped up during its run

The 2nd and 5th season hurt "The Wire" significantly in my opinion. The 1st and 4th are GOAT level, the 3rd season is good, but the 5th especially weakens it's legacy. The 2nd is probably the most boring, though I fondly remember the Sabotka character.

I don't think "the Wire" is better than "The Shield" or "The Sopranos".

It's a good show, but it's a tier two show.

It's definetly not up there with the GOATS: The Wire, Sopranos or Game of Thrones.

Although, Gus is one of the best characters of all time.

Only Gus I acknowledge is Gooey

The thing with The Wire is, there are so many well thought out characters that people who watch the whole series can end up taking a different thing from it.

Some people may like the streets side and how realistically it was shown, but I got how the mayor, Tommy Carcetti, worked hard to become the mayor only to find out it wasn't what is was cracked up to be when he had to (SPOILER) choose between using the budget on schools or the police. I could relate to that.

Breaking Bad is about 2 white guys who turn to drug dealing because one has a terminal illness :mjpls: like as if it should be OK because he's trying to put money aside for his family :camby:The story is not even that good, let alone the GOAT show. And people rave about it.
