Can Roman Reigns be a mainstream star outside of WWE or is it too late?

They already got a "Roman Reigns" in Hollywood:yeshrug:

I don’t mean to play devils advocate, but I specifically remember people saying Rock was a cheap Vin Diesel. All these years later and Vin isn’t even nearly in the same league as Rocky.

Not saying Roman is The Rock, but it’s happened before.

he's not really well known but he is muscular and got the looks, he can play a body guard or two in movie roles if he wants too

That was always my thought. Where is Romans mainstream appeal exactly? As is, he's just "less interesting Jason Momoa."

Though he can just take the Cena route: hang around WWE for 15 years until he's inseparable from the brand then parlay that into a mainstream career when he's losing steam as a wrestler.

Look at Bautista though. Dude started off with small movie roles and by being humble and playing his cards right worked his way up to Hollywood mainstay. And he got the Drax role in GotG because Jason Momoa wanted too much money. Roman can fill that same void of being a cheaper Jason Momoa coming with a built-in fanbase.

Batista lucked out..he kind of just picked the right role.

Roman has a good pretty boy villain look in a flick but right now..that's about it. There are a million soap opera mixed breed cats that look like him.

That makes no sense Rock was a pop culture icon before u ever heard of Vin Diesel..a ratings draw on almost every guest appearance he ever had...MTV, ESPN, UPN. He debuted in Hollywood getting paid 5 mili...Vin Diesl just lucked up with the Furious 5 stuff making real money. No one cared if he was alive or dead most of the 2000s.

Yes, he can. He could do action movies where all he has to do is look tough and he'd get over on the mainstream level. He has the look. So long as he sticks to what's natural and doesn't overextend himself into goofiness it can be done. Batista's not a guy you send to light up a room and he got over in the mainstream, by not overextending himself into goofiness and knowing his strengths.
I also laugh when marks say chinese play fighting is cool because they sellout of their shirts at Hot Topic :russ: who besides the bottom on society even walk in that store?

The Fast and The Furious and Fast 4 were bigger than any movie Rock was in until Fast 5 though. Gameplan was the only one that really did well, and it had the built in toddler Disney fanbase rather than something that Diesel/Walker made happen like the early Fast movies.

Fast and Furious was not bigger than the Rock's impact in Mummy Returns. After the first two Furious flicks, everyone thought that shyt was str8 to DVD status. Didn't even know they had a part 4 until Fast 5 got greenlighted. Lol. You were just like 19 back in 09..so u damn sure weren't up on that stuff in 2001 and all that shyt. Tokyo Drift? Wtf...lol

Fast 4 did a 70 mil opening weekend, that's far from straight to DVD. You only think that because of Tokyo Drift, where Bow Wow was the biggest star in it.

And I saw the first Fast movie in theaters because a friend really wanted to see it. By the time it hit DVD all the kids I know had seen it at least once.

Crediting The Rock with drawing The Mummy Returns box office is a stretch. Anyway, my point is Vin Diesel was a draw for a few years, cooled down in the mid 2000s but got hot again when he went back to F&F.

He didn't luck out. Bautista is known as a humble, collected professional on movie sets and in an industry full of egos and drama queens that gives you a push easily. Dude played his cards right and it got him the right roles.

I disagree. I'm pretty sure you can ask anyone walking on the streets who John Cena is, and they'd be able to recognize him. If you said Batista, then I would completely agree but Cena is pretty big.

Facts. Cena poppin just off memes alone

I agree Rock was a pop culture phenomenon, there’s no doubt. When it came to acting though, there had NEVER been a wrestler who had made it and a fair share of the population thought he’d end up a b grade action star. It’s not a slight on The Rock at all, it’s just that nobody had kicked in the doors like he had before - there was no benchmark.

In that time period Vin Diesel was one of the hottest stars in the world and had made NUMEROUS hit movies. Rock was compared to him initially because Vin was the benchmark.

Rock is one of the biggest stars in the world now, but I bet if you asked him, he’d tell you himself that he started from the bottom in the acting world too.
