Can DR. Dre even be considered worthy of his "legendary" producer status?

:snoop:I've done heard it all from the-coli, earlier some guy said Jay-z's not that great of rapper and now Dr. Dre is not that great of a producer. Like already stated a beat maker and a producer are not the same thing. Let me put it to you using this analogy using sports. A producer is like the coach while the rapper, beatmakers, instrumentalists, vocalists are the players. The producer's main goal is to call the shots on the production of the piece, they make sure transitions are straight, they get the rapper and vocalists to rap/sing a certain way, instrumentalist to play this here and there and their duty is to put all these components together and get the best possible execution. Now alot of times the producer is also the beatmaker or heavily involved with that aspect but you dont have to make the beat necessarily to be a producer.

Dre one of the most overrated cats in history of rap.....

dude make a album every 10-15 years and the leg work is done by others(producing/beatmaking, rapping, and writing) that MF'er better make damn near classics everytime out with so much time given to produce and so much help and resources
Who said other people makes his beats?
Just like Kanye he uses real instruments or better yet Kanye got that from Dr. Dre.
They need other people to control certain instruments, certain arrangements and shyt other nikkas doesn't understand, are to lazy to use or can't afford.

in 2009 25 years after he came in the game he just produced a full 20 song eminem album + the refill like 6 joints, 4 joints for 50, . Most producers will not produce 35 songs released by a major label in 1 year. Dre did it over 2 decades into his career.

What cats don't get is that Dre's peak was in 87-94 2nd peak 99-05
But in all the other years he's still as active as any other producer. After producing 2 joints for Em and 2 for Rae in 2010 he's calmed down a bit, I think a 47 year old man deserves that. He also happens to run of the most famous premium headphone brands in the world, a record label and a family.

Dude has been averaging like over 1 track a month for 27 years, let that nikka rest.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Dre can't get no legendary status off of records he did in the 80's and early 90's alone. If that's the case Marley Marl and a whole host of others need to be in the convo as well. If that's the case Q-Tip shyts on Dr Dre off the first 3 Tribe Albums alone. Dr Dre is still up there with the Mount Rushmore of producers. The problem with saying who's number 1 and this and that, is all based on a persons taste in music. Dr Dre is a HOF producer and that's all that matters.

1. Show us the fact that Scott Storch produced any Dr. Dre beat, and after that explain why all dre's beats are better than his.

2. Dr. Dre schooled all these kids on production, everyone who worked with him got schooled by him.

3. He can't write lyrics that's it, he was a very dope rapper though. Dope flow, delivery, performer etc.

Straight Outta Compton, nikkaz 4 Life, Doggystyle, 2001, Chronic, No One Can Do It Better
besides the full albums he made the beats to and produced, which are probably 5 out of the 20 best produced albums of all time.

He also produced other full albums, not made the beats (even though he made a few on them) but his production skills as in terms of the classic definition of production is untouched as well.
agreed..... i hear this alot and it might be true but never any solid proof.... i do think he did just put a stamp on some ish im not that naive lol.....just off longevity alone he is a goat...... he did alot of remakes to songs but its how he put his shyt together to me.....from breaks with live instruments.......to just how nwa albums was put together track 1 thru 10 like a movie or a show and breaks and switches in the songs was classic....how many producers can have musical range from this

(dont laugh lol)

and this

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFHYBbi99jw]Michel'le - Something In My Heart [Video] - YouTube[/ame]

to this

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-MrQtOoQRpc]N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton [Explicit] [HD] - YouTube[/ame]

and this

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzpOpic5Y_c]N.W.A. - Alwayz Into Somethin' [Official Video HD] - YouTube[/ame]

and im stopping somewhere in the 90's lol its 2012 lmao

just off the ruthless/dr work, he was already a legend by 96

once you label something 'legend', thats it. you dont take it back, even if he's been :flabbynsick: for the past decade

they get the rapper and vocalists to rap/sing a certain way
Do other producers do this alot as well cause to me it seems like dre was one of the few that played a big role in guiding his artists when it came to producing for them compared to a lot of other producers and rappers.
